Medical Emergency Grants Are you an artist in need of critical medical, mental health, or dental treatment? The Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent, unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies experienced by artists anywhere in the US in financial need who are creating in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, or choreography. College Fellowship Exhibition $5,000 in fellowship grants will be awarded to college art majors whose work is selected. The call opens Friday, December 20, and closes Sunday, February 23 at 11:59 pm. There is no cost to register and submit. The College Fellowship Show is open to Berkshire County, Massachusetts residents enrolled at the undergraduate level as art majors at any college in the country, as well as non-residents majoring in art at a Berkshire County college; Berkshire Community College, MCLA, Williams, and Simon’s Rock. The show will open in April at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts in Pittsfield; an award ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 19 from 3-5 pm. Learn more.

Artists-in-Residence Arts/Industry has been connecting artists with the resources, technology, and materials of Kohler Co., and providing a place to explore new ideas, processes, and perspectives. Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Arts/Industry residencies are three months in length and divided into three cohorts. Research Grants in the Arts & NEA Research Labs Updated guidelines are now available for two funding programs offered through the National Endowment for the Arts’ Office of Research & Analysis: Research Grants in the Arts funds research studies that investigate the value and/or impact of the arts, either as individual components of the U.S. arts ecosystem or as they interact with each other and/or with other domains of American life. Cost share grants of $20,000 to $100,000 will be awarded. NEA Research Labs funds projects that support transdisciplinary research teams grounded in the social and behavioral sciences, yielding empirical insights about the arts for the benefit of arts and non-arts sectors alike. Cost share grants of $100,000 to $300,000 will be awarded. Application guidelines for the present round of funding are available on the Arts Endowment website.

Grant for Painters The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Grants are offered to American painters aged 45 or older who demonstrate financial need. The primary emphasis is to promote public awareness and a commitment to American art, as well as encouraging interest in painters who lack adequate recognition. A jury made up of three art historians, artists, curators, and critics will review the applications in the late spring. Applicants will be notified no later than July 1, 2025. Learn more.

So pleased to see your post of Jaune Quick-To-See Smith’s work. She was a woman artist of huge importance, alerting the world to the plight of Native Americans. I was lucky enough to see her show (with work spanning 5 decades) at The Whitney Museum in 2023. Let’s not forget her and the Native Americans who she represents.
