Artist Lab: 2024 Tax Preparation for Artists and Creative Entrepreneurs Instructor Dr. Elaine Grogan Luttrull, a certified public accountant, personal financial specialist, and accredited financial counselor, will review federal income tax basics for artists, including common deductions claimed and 2024 tax year updates. Creative Exchange Event Creative Process with John Bonanni & Mark Adams, January 29th, 5:30-7:30pm , Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, 396 Main St, #10, Barnstable, MA. Writer and poet John Bonanni will share insights on writing as a tool for reflection and expression, while painter, activist, and cartographer Mark Adams will explore how journaling shapes visual storytelling and social engagement. Together, they’ll lead a conversation on the creative process, offering inspiration and new ways to connect with your work. Come join the discussion and be part of this dynamic exchange of ideas. Call to Artists  The Newton City Hall Galleries are free and open spaces for artists to exhibit their artworks. Our goal is to display high quality, original artworks, with a preference given to local artists and organizations. This ongoing series of free public exhibitions highlights local artistic talent, reflects the City’s dedication to the arts, and provides a space where visual artists can share their art with the community. We are accepting 2-D artworks that can be displayed on the walls of the gallery, including but not limited to, drawings, paintings, photography, and digital art. For your information, an introduction to Newton City Hall Galleries is contained in the City Hall Art Gallery Policies. To submit your artworks, please complete this form and submit high-resolution images of your works by February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM. To be certain you follow the exhibit guidelines, please read the City Hall Art Gallery Policies in detail prior to submitting this form. Alternatively, you may email the images to culture@newtonma.gov. Questions can be sent to culture@newtonma.gov.

Call to Artists For nearly a century, the Marblehead Arts Association (MAA) has exhibited artwork from throughout New England in the six galleries of its historic 1728 mansion, located in scenic Marblehead, MA. The MAA invites artists from across the country to participate in our Variations exhibit from Apr 19 – Jun 14, 2025. We encourage a diversity of art styles and media to participate in this juried exhibit of 2D and 3D work. (Limited pedestals available). Artwork for Variations will be juried for acceptance by 3 prestigious judges with cash prizes of $1000, $250, and $100 awarded in each of the categories: Fine Arts: Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, 2-D Mixed Media, Digital Art; Photography: Film, Digital (the artist must make the image); 3D work: Sculpture, Crafts, Jewelry, Fabric, Paper. Up to 3 pieces of art may be submitted – $35 for 1st entry and $10 each additional entry. MAA Members are eligible for a $10 discount off their 1st entry with coupon code provided by MAA. Learn more.

Long Meadow Art Residency This solo residency offers artists studio space and housing in the Berkshires for six weeks to three months. It includes a $3,000 monthly living stipend, a $2,500 supply budget, and access to a vehicle for transportation. Learn more.

Craft Artists The Craft Innovation Jumpstarter Grant is currently accepting applications. The program consists of four (4) grants of $3,000 each: two (2) in the summer and two (2) in the winter. The purpose of the grants is to support craft artists who reside in the United States to pursue new directions or advance new ideas in their work. Learn more.

Spotlight Series: MassReconnect & MassEducate This year, to curate information and build awareness about opportunities and resources that may be of interest to the creative and cultural sector, Mass Cultural Council will host virtual sessions with public partners. This Spotlight Series is meant to supplement existing information, marketing, and outreach being conducted by other state agencies on their programming and initiatives, but also provide members of the creative and cultural sector an opportunity to engage and ask questions about these resources. This month, we’re hosting officials from the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education to provide an overview of the MassReconnect & MassEducate programs. This is a new program created by the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the state Legislature made community college free to students age 25 and older. The online event is February 24, 2025 at 2pm. Call to Artists The Art Museum of New Bedford presents Best of SouthCoast Artists Exhibition, a juried showcase celebrating the region’s artistic excellence and heritage as part of our 30th anniversary celebration. This exhibition honors artists of all backgrounds who thrive creatively in the SouthCoast while looking ahead to a bright and creative future. Learn more.

Call for Art  Piano Craft Gallery and Gather 2025 invite fiber and textile artists to apply to: Orange Line Connecting Neighborhoods North to South. Orange Line: Connecting Neighborhoods, North to South invites artists working in fiber and textiles to consider their connection to their neighborhood and the Orange Line (MBTA transit line) which runs from Malden, MA to Jamaica Plain (Forest Hills), MA and services multiple neighborhoods along the way. The exhibition is proudly a part of Gather, a regional showcasing of fiber artists from the Greater Boston area. Gather 2025 is a month-long exploration of fiber and textile art in Greater Boston, highlighting the vibrancy, breadth, challenges and future of this tactile medium.  Learn more.
