Of Note: Basic Training for Artists: Community, Survival, & Thrival, a free workshop  on Saturday, March 22nd from 9:30am-2:00pm at the Parker Hill Branch Library (1497 Tremont Street, Roxbury). Artist Luanne E Witkowski, creator or Basic Training for Artists, a Mission Hill resident and MassArt studio manager, will facilitate this interactive workshop. Space is limited. RSVP and learn more.

Poetry Entries are now being accepted for the Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation’s Poetry Prize. A prize of $1,000 is given annually for a poem. Wesley McNair will judge. Submit up to three poems of no more than three pages. Learn more.

Photographers Entries are now being accepted for The Griffin Museum of Photography’s 20th Juried Show: The Peter Urban Legacy Exhibition. The juror is Aline Smithson. Learn more.

Short Story Glimmer Train Press is accepting entries for their short story contest called Family Matters. A prize of $1,500, publication in Glimmer Train Stories, and 20 copies of the prize issue is given twice yearly for a short story about families of all configurations. Learn more.

Call for Art Entries are now being accepted for the 64th Annual Art of the Northeast Exhibition at the Silvermine Arts Center, New Canaan, CT. Show Dates: May 31 – July 26, 2014. Open to All Media. Curator: Andrew Russeth, Art Critic: New York Observer, Gallerist and 16 Miles of String. Awards: Best in Show: $3,000 prize and a solo exhibition at Silvermine Arts Center. Artist Grants Applications are now being accepted for the Harpo Foundation’s Grants for Visual Artists. The Grants for Visual Artists award provides direct support to under-recognized artists of any age. Learn more.
Deadline: May 6, 2014 (11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time)

Residencies for Women Turkeyland Cove Foundation, a grant program for women located on Martha’s Vineyard offers one, two or three week residencies for women that are looking to complete an artistic, career or academic endeavor. The grant pays a stipend for transportation to and from the island and allows for a solitary, beautiful and inspiring work environment with all meals brought to the recipient. Learn more.
