Artist Residency Converging Liberations Residency is an experimental, community informed project committed to the belief that artistic practice is key to imagining and practicing liberatory futures. The residency is exclusively for artists, creatives, and community organizers who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. We extend special invitations to those who also identify as queer or trans, as a caretaker, and/or as differently abled/disabled (and so will use the term QT/BIPoC to encompass all of these individuals). Feature-Length Documentary Filmmakers The IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund is now accepting applications. Production funds are provided to feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, contemporary stories and integrating journalistic practice into the filmmaking process. In addition to funds, grantees will receive additional resources and expertise tailored to the needs of the project. Inclusion and diversity, both in terms of the filmmaking team and subject matter, are a priority of the fund. Learn more.

Photographers Entries are currently being accepted for EXPOSURE 2021, 25th annual PRC Juried Exhibition, July 9 – August 20, 2021 at Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery, Worcester State University. Juror: Kris Graves, publisher of Kris Graves Projects. Entries are encouraged from photographers working in a broad range of work including traditional and non-traditional approaches to photography. Documentary Filmmakers Fund Firelight Media has announced an open call for the William Greaves Fund‘s second year. Founded in 2020 to support documentary filmmakers from racially and ethnically underrepresented communities, the Fund is designed to address structural challenges filmmakers face after producing their first films so that they are able to continue creating stories focused on underrepresented people and topics. Poets The Academy of American Poets is accepting entries for prize of $5,000, given annually for a second book of poetry by a living poet to be published in the coming calendar year. The winner also receives an all-expenses paid weeklong residency at the Betsy Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida. Copies of the winning book are purchased and distributed to members of the Academy of American Poets. U.S. publishers may submit a PDF of a manuscript of at least 48 pages that has come under contract and will be published in 2022 Learn more.

Dancers, Choreographers The Vilcek Foundation currently seeks young foreign-born applicants for the 2022 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Dance. Immigrant dancers, choreographers, and artistic directors working across a variety of genres are invited to apply, Applicants should have been born outside of the United States; be 38 years of age or younger in 2022; and completed at least three professional dance engagements. Three winners will each receive a $50,000 unrestricted cash prize and be honored at an awards ceremony in New York City in April 2022. Learn more.
