Free Museum Admission Program for Active-Duty Military Personnel and Their Families, Including National Guard and Reserve Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America, offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve. The 2025 program began on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, 2025, and run through Labor Day, September 1, 2025.  See the list of participating Massachusetts Museums.

Boston Logan Airport Musicians Call Massport is working with Mass Cultural Council to develop a pilot project called Live Music at Logan. The project will connect local musicians with unique opportunities to showcase their talents to a global audience at Boston Logan International Airport. Currently seeking solo acts who thrive in a busking setting and excel at captivating an ever-changing crowd. If you have a dynamic performance style and a history of engaging diverse audiences in lively public spaces, submit your interest and share your talent in action. Please note that this opportunity is contingent upon passing a mandatory security check and is currently in the exploratory phase. Join the process and play a pivotal role in enriching the travel experience for visitors worldwide. This is a paid gig. Learn more.

Call for Projects Expand Massachusetts Stories: Promises of the Revolution. Mass Humanities is offering a grant up to $20,000 for projects that collect, interpret and/or share narratives about the commonwealth, with an emphasis on the voices and experiences that have gone unrecognized, or have been excluded from public conversation. This year, our theme focuses on legacies of the American Revolution. Learn more.

Of Note: The Massachusetts Seal, Flag, and Motto Advisory Commission, of which Mass Cultural Council is a named member, is actively seeking public submissions to reimagine our state’s official symbols. Established by the Legislature, the Commission is dedicated to developing new emblems that truly reflect the shared values, dynamic history, and vibrant diversity of our state. The Commission is inviting residents and community members of all ages to participate in this important process. You can submit: ideas for a new state seal or flag; motto proposals that capture the spirit of Massachusetts. The Commission especially encourages young people to lend their creativity and perspectives to this endeavor. Exhibition Proposals Piano Craft Gallery is announcing its call for exhibition proposals for the 2026 calendar year. PCG is dedicated to highlighting the diversity of art-making of Boston’s residents and a mission of exhibiting the work of artists from various cultures, races, and socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Thanks to funding from the Boston Cultural Council, Piano Craft Gallery has waved all exhibition rental fees for 2026. Accepting solo or group show proposals. A strong emphasis will be placed on the quality of work paired with plans for community engagement. Accepted artists will host three week long exhibitions, and will be required to gallery sit during our open hours (Fridays 6-8PM, Saturdays 12-5PM, and Sundays 12-5PM). Learn more.

Arlington Community Education Cover Art Contest Local artists are invited to submit up to four pieces for Arlington Community Education’s annual Cover Art Contest. Three winners will receive $300 and exposure to an audience of more than 50,000 in exchange for the use of their artwork. All mediums are welcome.  Open to artists high-school-aged and up. Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant The Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant is an annual grant awarded to lesbians for making visionary moving-image art. Work can be experimental animation, experimental documentary, experimental narrative, cross-genre, or solely experimental. Learn more.

Grant for Black Trans Women Visual Artists The Illuminations Grant is a $10,000 grant, awarded to draw attention to an existing body of work, sheds light on the under-recognized contributions of Black trans women visual artists and provides critical support to their continuing work. Four distinguished finalists will also receive $1,250. Learn more.

Call for Photography The Lotte Jacobi Open Juried Photography Exhibit. As NH Art Association commemorates the 46th year of hosting our esteemed juried photography exhibition, we invite New England artists working in photographic mediums to submit 1-3 pieces, continuing our tradition of celebrating this important art form and preserving our organization’s rich history. It will be on display August 1-31. Learn more.

Playwright Award The Woodward/Newman Award is an exclusive honor offered by Constellation Stage & Screen, started through the support of Joanne Woodward, Newman’s Own Foundation, and the Newman family, celebrating Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward’s tremendous history of work on stage and screen. It presents the best unpublished play of the year with a cash prize of $3,000 and a full production as part of Constellation’s Mainstage season. Learn more.
