Playwrights  Firehouse Center for the Arts is now accepting submissions of full length, one act, and short (10 minute) plays for their 2015 New Works Festival. Playwrights from across New England are encouraged to submit. Since 2002, Firehouse Center for the Arts and the New Works Festival have fostered the development of regional writers, directors, actors, and theater companies by providing insight into the playwriting process from conception to presentation. Submitted plays are judged by an independent panel of theater professionals. Learn more.

Artist Residency Applications are now being accepted for the Miranda Arts Project Space (MAPSpace) Artist Residency in Port Chester, NY. This is a studio/workspace residency for collaborative artist teams (2+) lasting 3-4 weeks. Residency culminates in an exhibition, performance or event in same space. Artist teams take over the gallery space as a studio work space to create a unique work(s). Learn more.

Poetry The Pat Schneider Poetry Contest, sponsored by Amherst Writers & Artists, has a $1000 first prize. The winner plus up to three honorable mentions will be published in their literary journal, Peregrine. Learn more.

Call for Collegiate Sports Art The National Art Museum of Sports (NAMOS) competition is open to artists 18 and over who create fine art with a sport subject in three categories: 2D, 3D and Photography. Jurors, Adrienne Ruger Conzelman, Jean Marie Cote and Andrew Schoelkopf, will select 30 pieces for an exhibit September 7 to November 3, 2014, in the New Canaan Historical Society, New Canaan, Conn.  Learn more.

Artist Residency The Boston Center for the Arts is currently accepting applications for their Artist Residency program which aims to provide an environment where artists can experiment with their craft, develop their focus or test new ideas and simultaneously engage in vital public dialogue. This season, the Residency Program puts special emphasis on artist projects that engage the public in direct and innovative ways, whether through collaborative activities, participatory public installations, performance, intervention or other imaginative activation. Learn more.
