Needham Mural Project The Needham Council for Arts and Culture on behalf of the Town of Needham, MA, has announced a Request for Proposals for the Chapel Street Mural Project. At approximately 30’ long by 11’ high, the mural’s objective is to “educate, enliven and enrich the town with public art that connects and inspires the community.” The NCAC will contract an artist for a professionally painted mural in the fall of 2024 to utilize expiring ARPA funding. This highly traveled location next to Town Hall will bring color to Needham Center with a budget of $7,000 for the public artwork. Learn more.

Celtic Acts Passim and the O’Donovan family have established a new artist grant fund named the Brian O’Donovan Legacy Fund to honor the many contributions Brian has made to Passim and to the Boston Celtic Music community. Six grants of $2,500 each will be given annually to Celtic acts planning upcoming tours in New England. Learn more.

Pre-Production or Early Development Film Funding Through the Moving Image Fund, LEF Foundation supports the work of New England-based filmmakers across all phases of a project’s production. The foundation is currently accepting applications for Pre-production ($5,000) and Early Development ($2,500) grants. You can learn more about how to apply here.

Call for Artists Entries are currently being accepted for Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s exhibit the White & Texture.” This exhibition invites visitors to explore the profound subtleties and striking complexities of white – both as a color and a concept. This unique visual art exhibition will showcase an eclectic mix of styles, concepts, and media with a desire to reveal the varied textures and forms possible within a singular chromatic spectrum. The call is seeking a diverse range of artists working in various mediums including painting, fiber, sculpture, photography, and more. Learn more.

Massachusetts 250 Grant The Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) have announced a new competitive grant program to support the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The Massachusetts 250 Grant Program will fund projects that highlight historic themes of revolution and independence, celebrate significant “firsts” in Massachusetts history, or take a creative or innovative approach to commemorating the state’s past 250 years. The Awesome Foundation The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time. Each fully autonomous chapter supports projects through micro-grants, usually given out monthly. Projects include initiatives in a wide range of areas including arts, technology, community development, and more. Many awesome projects are novel or experimental, and evoke surprise and delight. New Members for Artist Run Cooperative Gallery The Kingston Gallery, one of New England’s oldest artist-run cooperatives, dedicated to showcasing high-quality contemporary art in all media, is currently accepting applications for membership. Managed and maintained by artist members, the gallery thrives on collaborative governance. Members present solo exhibitions in the Main Gallery every 2.5 to 3 years and in the Project Space in alternating years. These exhibitions are complemented by group shows and events curated by professionals from other institutions. The gallery welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds, believing that diverse perspectives enhance a collective creative potential. Learn more.

Grants for New England Visual Artists Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Artist’s Resource Trust offers grants, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, to New England visual artists who demonstrate a financial need. Painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, or mixed media artists who have lived in New England for at least two years at time of application are eligible. Learn more.
Deadline: October 15, 2024

Poets Entries are currently being accepted for the Codhill Press Pauline Uchmanowicz Poetry Award of $1,000 plus 25 copies. Distribution by SUNY Press. Submit book-length manuscript (48–72 pages), acknowledgements, table of contents, and cover page (name, address, phone, e-mail). For complete guidelines read more.
