ADU Design Challenge The ADU Design Challenge invites Massachusetts architects, builders, designers, contractors, and design-build teams practicing in the State of Massachusetts to help solve that problem by creating high-quality, ready-to-use ADU plans. The winning designs will be made publicly available, allowing property owners to find professional floor plans, bring them to a trusted builder, and more easily move forward with construction. This initiative is about reducing the cost and complexity of building small homes — and showing how good design can make housing more accessible, sustainable, and achievable across the Commonwealth. Haystack Mountain School of Crafts – Haystack at 75 Artists can apply for Open Studio Residency and all-levels workshops in blacksmithing, ceramics, fiber, glass, graphics, metals, wood, and writing in coastal Maine. Tuition, room and board, and shop fees vary. Fellowships are available. Application Period: January 6–30 or February 20, 2026 (depending on the program). Learn more.

Socially Engaged Art Blade of Grass has an open call for $500 grants for U.S.-based artists, creative practitioners, and culture bearers with a demonstrated history of creating socially engaged art to support costs related to accessibility and translation. Learn more and apply.

Visual Art Residency Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR), the first residency in the United States exclusively for artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, two-spirit or queer, annually accepts applications for its prestigious and internationally recognized summer program. Now in its 15th season in the secluded beach community of Cherry Grove, NY, an historic LGBTQ settlement of Fire Island, emerging artists will share a live/work space for a four-week program marked by intimate studio visits with, and public lectures by, renowned leaders in contemporary art, scholarship, activism and curation. $40 Application Fee. FIAR provides lodging, work space, a stipends for meals and travel, and an honorarium. Learn more.

Professional Development Series for Massachusetts Tourism Industry Social Media With a Purpose is a professional development series for the Massachusetts tourism industry. This session will explore: building trust through content, balancing promotion and storytelling, practical planning, content prompts, and a simple structure to reduce overwhelm and increase consistency. Open to all tourism, cultural, hospitality, and destination professionals. Wednesday, January 28, 2026, 10:00 a.m. Learn more and register.

Artist Residency The Studios at MASS MoCA runs year-round, hosts up to 10 artists at a time for stays of 2 or 4 weeks, and primarily seeks applications from visual artists (painters, sculptors, installation artists, photographers, video/new media artists, fiber artists, printmakers, etc.) and writers in all literary disciplines. Artists from around the world are encouraged to apply. Learn more.

Movement Artists Urbanity is now accepting applications for their annual residency program, Urbanity X. The program aims to elevate promising movement artists to the next level in their careers by providing multi-layered support, including dedicated rehearsal space, a substantial stipend, a performance opportunity, technical support, administrative support, and mentorship. Scholarships for Emerging Poets The city of Boston is partnering with the Fine Arts Work Center to offer scholarships to six emerging Boston-based poets who are looking to hone their craft at a week-long workshop in Provincetown, MA this summer. The scholarship covers tuition, lodging, and a stipend for travel and food. Learn more.

Call to Artists Entries are currently being accepted for the exhibit Fledgling: Artists Under 30, a juried exhibit highlighting the work of New England’s up-and-coming artists under 30. New NH Art Association exhibitors receive a free one-year membership. Accepted craft artists get a professional critique from a League of NH Craftsmen juried member. $900 in cash prizes. Exhibit in downtown Portsmouth, NH. $25 for up to 3 submissions. Learn more.

Grant Program for Artists Applications are currently being accepted for the Asian Community Fund Narrative Change Grants: FY2026 Application. The Asian Community Fund has launched this new pilot grant program to invest in artistic projects and cultural experiences that amplify AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander) narratives, expand cultural visibility, and deepen belonging. This pilot grant program is intended to support ongoing, expanded, or new artistic projects or community engagements that elevate the narrative change pilot theme of Building, Becoming, and Belonging. Learn more.

Call to Berkshire County Women Artists Berkshire County women artists are invited to submit work for Women in Art, a group exhibition celebrating the creativity, perspectives, and voices of women working across all media. This exhibition aims to highlight the diversity of women’s artistic practices—bold or subtle, experimental or traditional. Artists at all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply. The group exhibition will be held in March at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  Learn more.

Public Art in Rural Places Workshop Making it Public, a workshop series for artists of all disciplines who are interested in expanding their practice. Of note: this series will have a focus on rural areas. It is a free 5-week series, March 10-April 7, via Zoom. MIP for New England Artists is a free five-week virtual workshop series designed to support artists of all disciplines in exploring and expanding their public art making practice. Workshops cover practical and tactical subjects including site analysis, stakeholder considerations, community engagement, funding opportunities, contracting, and insurance. Learn more.

Berkshire Art Association (BAA) Fellowship Show Open to college students majoring in art who grew up and live in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and are enrolled in college anywhere, or are enrolled in a Berkshire County college or university. Students will be informed whether their work has been accepted by March 7, 2026. Students are responsible for arranging delivery of art by Friday, March 27, 2026. Accepted works will be shown at the gallery. Our jury will distribute up to $5000 in Fellowship Awards to selected exemplary students whose work has been selected for the show. Learn more.

Call to Artists the Arlington Center for the Arts is currently accepting entries for their exhibition Back to the Drawing Board is open for artist submissions. Accepted mediums: Graphite, charcoal, ink, colored pencils, conte crayon, pastels, chalk, markers, pen, digital stylus/tablet. Works that integrate paint or other materials not listed will not be considered. 30$ submission fee that covers up to 3 artwork submissions. Learn more.
