Of Note: On Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 1 PM, the House Committee on Federal Funding, Policy and Accountability will host an informational, invite-only hearing on the effects of changing federal policies and funding cuts to the creative and tourism economies in Massachusetts. MASSCreative was invited to testify on the data and stories behind these federal cuts and how they will impact our communities. They will use data collected from their recent federal impact survey and data supplied by the Americans for the Arts to inform legislators about the broad harm inflicted by cuts. Call to Artists The New Hampshire Art Association at the Gallery at Jimmy’s is accepting entries for Biennial 2. Biennial 2 invites New England artists to be part of a standout showcase honoring the diversity, depth, and innovation of our region’s creative community. We’re seeking powerful, compelling works across all mediums, styles, and experience levels—from emerging talents to seasoned professionals. Nearly $5,000 in prizes will be awarded, including a $2,500 first-place award, plus special recognition for exceptional abstract and social commentary pieces. Learn more.

Feminist Press Call for Papers Since 1972, WSQ has been an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of emerging perspectives on women, gender, and sexuality. Its peer-reviewed interdisciplinary thematic issues focus on such topics as Open Call, Unbearable Being(s), Pandemonium, Nonbinary, State/Power, Black Love, Solidão, Asian Diasporas, Protest, Beauty, Precarious Work, At Sea, Solidarity, Queer Methods, Activisms, The Global and the Intimate, and Trans-, combining legal, queer, cultural, technological, and historical work to present the most exciting new scholarship, fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, book reviews, and visual arts on ideas that engage popular and academic readers alike. Artists Residency The Penland School of Craft’s Winter Residency program in Bakersville, NC,  is a short-term residency opportunity for artists seeking to work independently in one of their 16 studios. Practicing artists of all backgrounds and at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply for a 2-week or 4-week session in January. Learn more.

Arts Scholarship The Nicholas Dahl Visiting Artist Scholarship is offered annually by Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) to LGBTQIA+ individuals 30 years of age and under who demonstrate a passion for the arts. Learn more.

Boston Performing Artists The Open Doors Production Residency is designed to support performing artists in presenting new or existing work to Boston’s audiences, providing essential in-kind resources such as venue space and technical, production, and marketing support. Learn more

Franklin Park Poster Competition The City of Boston, Franklin Park Coalition, and the Boston Society of Landscape Architects are calling on designers and visual artists to help tell the story of Franklin Park through art. This citywide competition takes inspiration from classic national park posters and offers prizes for standout original designs. Submit a series of three posters for jury consideration—or a single design as an Emerging Artist (ages 14–24). Winners will be exhibited at Boston City Hall, Franklin Park Clubhouse, and online. Contest winners will receive cash prizes up to $3,000. Learn more

Call for 10 Minute Plays The Mil-Ten Play Festival, A Festival of 10 Minute Plays produced by Milton Players (March 20, 21, & 22, 2026). Plays must be 8-12 minutes in length. Written by current residents of MA, writers who have spent a substantial portion of their lives in MA, or writers who studied at a MA college or university. Minimal/simple prop, set, lighting, and costume requirements. Play can be any genre–drama, comedy, mystery, sci-fi, satire, romance, etc. Play should be appropriate for a wide audience range (think PG-13). It is preferable that plays should feature 2-5 actors. Playwrights: will be paid $50 if their play is chosen. Plays can be submitted to the Play reading Committee by emailing victoriakp39@gmail.com. Please include name, address, email address, and phone number of the playwright. If the playwright does not currently reside in Massachusetts, please include details of the association to Massachusetts. Learn more.

Call for Artists West Window Gallery in Quincy is  currently looking for artists to exhibit with their gallery. They are a for profit gallery and work on a rotating artist format. Learn more.
