Artist Residency Weir Farm’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program (in Wilton, CT) is envisioned to be an outstanding National Park Service residency program that reflects the values and character of Weir Farm National Historical Park (NHP) by continuing the creative conversations started by the Weir Family through the work of contemporary artists. Weir Farm’s AIR Program fosters contemporary artistic expression on site and prioritizes experimental and thought-provoking approaches to examining and interpreting our world through the medium of contemporary visual art practice. The AIR Program keeps Weir’s experimental tendencies alive allowing the Park to share new ideas broadly with ever more diverse artists, communities, and visitors. Visual artists apply for residencies in all media and diverse artistic points of view from traditional to experimental. Artists are chosen through an annual call for applicants followed by a competitive jury process. The Weir Farm AIR Program hosts 6 established or emerging visual artists per year to spend one month living and working at the Park (May-October). Housing and studio space are provided. Learn more.

Call for Boston Area Musicians Piano Craft Gallery is announcing its call for musicians for the Piano Craft Concert Series. Twelve musicians or groups will be selected by our Board of Directors to perform at the gallery. Piano Craft Gallery is looking to represent the diversity of music-making in the City of Boston and each performance will receive a $500 honorarium. This program is supported by the Neighborhood and Downtown Activation Grant from the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture and the City of Boston. Call for Muralist Westside Legends in partnership with Berkshire County NAACP, ROPE and Milltown Funding seeks an artist or artist team to lead a 3 month painted mural project for Durant Park that memorializes local heroes of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment and builds community education and involvement. All applications are reviewed by Westside Legends Art Advisory Committee, a panel of outside arts professionals and community members, based on the following criteria: conceptual relevance, artistic merit as demonstrated by prior experience and eventual proposal, feasibility. Open to artist or artist team with demonstrated experience in designing and creating outdoor public mural artwork and community engagement. The selected artist or artist team will receive a maximum payment of up to and not to exceed $5,000 for the creation of the artwork (in addition to the stipend). Call for Media Art Entries are currently being accepted for the WORK 2025 Regional Media Art Showcase. This exhibition aims to present a snapshot of current visual art culture, with a focus on innovative media art installation through the work of artists based in New England. Juried by Distinguished Curator-in-Residence Dr. Leonie Bradbury, Assistant Curator of Special Projects Shana Dumont Garr, and Artist and Curator Allison Maria Rodriguez. Selected artists will be notified by April 2, 2025 and will receive a $1,000 artist fee as a stipend and to help offset any exhibition production costs. Call for Artists/Muralist The City of Everett has released a call to art for its Community Crosswalk Art program that looks to install crosswalk art at 3 locations around Everett High School as a way to calm traffic while beautifying the area. The call is looking for local (Boston Metro) experienced outdoor muralists to respond that are also open to working with and incorporating high school art students into their project. Emergency Funding for Dancers Are you a dancer anywhere in the US in dire financial emergency? Have you recently lost engagements, or been ill or injured? You may be eligible for a one-time Rauschenberg Dancer Emergency Grant of up to $3,000. Cycle 17 will be open January 14 – February 11 for essential expenses including rent, utilities, medicine/healthcare, and food. Submissions from creators with backgrounds in music, sound design, media art, installation, social practice, and site-specific production are all encouraged. SOUNDWALKS will take place in Boston Public Garden and/or Boston Common and be presented using the Echoes platform — an easy-to-use platform that allows artists to create interactive, geolocated audio experiences. YardArt Exhibition for Watertown Residents YardArt, showcasing community art and creativity to return to Watertown in April, 2025. YardArt, a month-long outdoor citywide art exhibition taking place in Watertown at the transition of winter to spring, will return for a fifth year in April 2025. During YardArt, residents, institutions, and businesses—in short everyone in the city—is invited to install and display self-made creations in their front yards, windows, or anywhere visible from the street or sidewalk. YardArt is a community celebration of the inventiveness and the creativity in us all. Displayed pieces showcase the work of professionals, amateurs, hobbyists, adults, children, and students of all ages. Past works have included sculptures, mobiles, painted and covered materials, lighting displays, and art of all types and sizes. There are also group exhibitions in public and communal spaces. Participation is free and open to all.YardArt provides an opportunity for joy in making and sharing art and in viewing the art of others. Viewers are invited to take self–guided walking or biking tours aided by an online map showing participating locations. Property owners interested in displaying larger pieces in a public space are invited to contact the YardArt Committee as well. Free registration will open online soon.
