And now, allow me to explain my theory of doll imagery in contemporary art…

Of Note: The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is conducting a free information session on Wednesday, September 12, 5:00 pm for their Fall 2012 Grant Cycle. The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s Grants Program provides cash awards to cultural organizations and local artists. Grant size is generally limited to within a range of $500 to $2,500. Call 508-362-0066 or email to reserve your space. First time applicants are strongly urged to attend this workshop.

Performing Artists Grant The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) NEST grant program provides support to New England-based nonprofit organizations (known as presenters) for performances and community activities by select New England performing artists. Learn more.

Call for Art The Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery is currently accepting entries for Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Fenway@100, a group exhibition of Boston-area artists & collectors. Art work is sought in most mediums (photography, paintings, prints, drawings, cartoons, videos, sculpture) created by artist from the Massachusetts and border regions with a particular emphasis on the Boston area. Collectors of Red Sox, Baseball and Fenway Park ephemera (autographs, baseball gear, Fenway salvages, pennants, programs, yearbooks,etc.) are encouraged to loan work for display during this exhibit of original artwork. No fee to show, no commission. All sales inquiries referred to artists w/100% of sales to artists. For more information email Ms. Laura L. Poets The $100,000 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award is given annually to honor a book of poetry by a mid-career U.S. poet. The winner spends one week in residence at Claremont Graduate University in California. The $10,000 Kate Tufts Discovery Award is given annually to honor a first book of poetry by a poet of genuine promise. Learn more.

Call to Artists The Caladan Gallery is currently accepting entries for their juried exhibition The 10th Annual Surrealist, Visionary, and Art of the Spirit. All mediums except video are eligible. Learn more.

Membership Opportunity for Visual Artists The Kingston Gallery in Boston is currently accepting applications for new members. Members must live and work in Greater Boston. Exhibition experience and critical acclaim desired but not required. Learn more.

Fiction and Poetry University of Massachusetts Press is now accepting entries for two prizes of $1,500 each and publication for a poetry collection and a book of fiction.  For this year’s Juniper prizes, poets who have published at least one book-length poetry collection may submit a manuscript of 50 to 70 pages; fiction writers may submit a short story collection, a novel, or a novella of 150 to 350 pages. Printmakers Monotype Guild of New England is currently accepting entries for their Third National Monotype/Monoprint Juried Exhibition at the Barrington Center for the Arts, Gordon College, Wenham, MA. February 23–April 6, 2013. Juror: Mark Pascale, Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings, Art Institute of Chicago. Learn more.

Artists’ Book Residency Grant The Women’s Studio Workshop is currently accepting applications for their book residency grant. The artists’ book residency grant is for artists to produce a limited edition book work at WSW. Working intensively in our studios for six to eight weeks, artists print and bind their own books. WSW technical assistance includes training on new equipment, techniques and materials, and assistance with production. Learn more.

Painters The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation Grant 2013 Application now available. American painters aged 45 or older who demonstrate financial need are encouraged to apply for a grant. Grants range from $5,000 to $30,000. Learn more.
