Announcing Awards in Film & Video, Music Composition, and Photography

Mass Cultural Council is honored to announce the 2019 Artist Fellowship awards in Film & Video, Music Composition, and Photography. The awards include 18 fellowships of $15,000, and 17 finalist awards of $1,000. See a list of this year’s fellows and finalists, to date.

The awards are anonymously judged, based solely on the artistic quality and creative ability of the work submitted. Applications were open to all eligible Massachusetts artists. A total number of 628 applications were received: 130 in Film & Video, 115 in Music Composition, and 383 in Photography.

The Film & Video panelists were Shawn Cotter, Jacob Fried, Kavita Pillay, and Erin Trahan. Maya Erdelyi and Elliot Montague served as first-round readers. The Music Composition panelists were Laura Cetilia, Ayn Inserto, Loewi Lin, Carol Oja, and Daniel Sonenberg. The Photography panelists were Darren Ching, Lydia Hicks, Sakura Kelley, Iaritza Menjivar, and J. Sybylla Smith.

This is the second series of Artist Fellowships awards to be given by Mass Cultural Council in 2019. In January 2019, Mass Cultural Council announced awards in Crafts, Dramatic Writing, and Sculpture/Installation/New Genres.
