Performance-Based Civic Engagement Project The Way We Live Now Project is a performance-based public art and public health project focused on the ripple effects of the opioid epidemic. The producers are currently seeking a Production/Stage Manager as well as a group of Cast Members to collaborate with. For Cast Members, people with backgrounds in theater, performance art, or healthcare who have an interest in storytelling and facilitating conversations around related topics (such as: substance abuse, chronic pain or illness, opioid use, trauma, hope) are welcome to apply. Public Art Proposals The Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) is seeking proposals for a temporary work of public art for installation in Boston’s Fort Point Channel during the summer of 2018. The work of public art will serve to engage the public and highlight the Fort Point Channel, the Fort Point neighborhood and our creative community. Funding for Traditional Arts Apprenticeships Apprenticeships are a time-honored method by which an individual learns skills, techniques, and artistry under the guidance of a recognized master. Since its founding in 2001, the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program has funded over 100 artists in a vast array of traditions, both old and new to Massachusetts. Applications are now available. Recent apprenticeships funded by Mass Cultural Council’s Folk Arts and Heritage Program include mentorships in Cape Breton step dancing, design and building of wooden ship’s steering wheels, Cambodian traditional ornamentation, wooden boatbuilding and restoration, West African dance, Scottish & Cape Breton fiddling, and Mithila and Warli arts. MASS MoCA Massachusetts Financial Wellness Residency Applications from Massachusetts-based artists & writers for 2 – 4 week residencies are currently being accepted. Sessions will take place between Nov. 7, 2018 and Dec. 4, 2018. They offer great studio space and housing, one group meal per day, access to MASS MoCA’s exhibitions and to Makers’ Mill (a printmaking and fiber arts makerspace located a short walk from the Studios), and one-on-one professional development coaching with the staff of their “Assets for Artists” program. These residencies come with a deeply subsidized fee of $150/week and participants will receive a travel and meal stipend to further offset costs. In addition to these usual benefits, the artists selected for this residency will have the opportunity to participate in group workshops with artist-experts on personal finance and career development, and optional one-on-one assistance with financial planning and goal-setting, provided via MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists staff.
