Wendy Jehlen and Jared Katsiane were both among the 33 artists and organizations receiving the recently announced Opportunity Funds Grants from the Boston Cultural Council.
Daniel Johnson and Steve Locke have been selected as a 2018 Boston Artist-in-Residence.
Clara Lieu, Emily Lombardo, and Debra Olin join Carolyn Muskat in the exhibition March Four Women: Works by Four Boston Printmakers at Boston City Hall Scollay Square Gallery (3/2-3/31, opening reception 3/2, 3-5 PM).

Deborah Abel Dance Company presents The Wild Divine at the Boston University Tsai Performance Center (3/17, 7:30 PM; 3/18, 3 PM). The company has a GoFundMe campaign to support the project.
Elizabeth Alexander is exhibiting in Wrestling The Angel at Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Chartlotte NC (3/23-9/9).
Laura Blacklow‘s photography book New Dimensions In Photo Processes: A Step-by-Step Manual for Alternative Techniques is in its 5th edition. The book invites artists in all visual media to discover contemporary approaches to historical and contemporary procedures.
Steve Bogart‘s screenplay Blood’s Child won the Genre Summit Screenplay Competition. A number of other screenplay or stageplay scripts are finalists for various competitions. His play Rehearsal will have a production with Curious Arrow Theater in Grand Rapids, Michigan, dates TBD.
Sari Boren has an essay in the latest issue of Copper Nickel Journal.
Prilla Smith Brackett joins two other artists for the exhibition Seasonal Expression at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury VT (thru 4/14, opening reception 3/10, 5-7 PM).
Edie Bresler has a solo exhibition, Edie Bresler: Based on a True Story, at the Simmons College Trustman Gallery (3/19-4/19, reception 3/22, 5-7 PM).
Cheryl Clark Vermeulen has published a poetry chapbook, This Paper Lantern.
Duy Doan‘s poetry collection We Play a Game is published this month. The book won the 2017 Yale Series of Younger Poets competition, selected by Series judge Carl Phillips. Upcoming readings include UMass Lowell (3/22), Concord Free Public Library (3/25), Tufts University (3/27), Williams College (4/6), and the Newburyport Literary Festival (4/28).
Ken Field was recently profiled by the Vadoren Company.
Sean Greene has a solo exhibition of paintings and sculptural works on view at Amy H. Carberry Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College (thru 4/7).
Holly Guran‘s poetry book Twilight Chorus will be published by Main Street Rag Publishing Co. in May, now available for pre-order.
Carrie Gustafson is exhibiting in the Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC (3/22-3/25).

Mira T. Lee reads from her novel Everything Here Is Beautiful at Belmont Books (3/1, 7 PM). She also joins author Shobha Rao for an author event at Brookline Booksmith (3/21, 7 PM).
Stefanie Lubkowski and her compositions were recently featured on Alley Stoughton’s Not Brahms and Liszt on WMBR 88.1.
José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s three-ballet program Stolen Hearts runs through 3/18. Mateo has announced that after the company finishes its season in April, he will retire at artistic director of the highly regarded company.
Caitlin McCarthy‘s screenplay Wonder Drug is an Official Selection of the 2018 Richmond International Film & Music Festival. It’s now in the running for Best Feature Screenplay by the RIFF’s Grand Jury.
Rachel Mello‘s art is featured on the cover of the Mar/Apr Scout Somerville magazine. The issue includes a full-page article on the artist and her work.
Nina Louise Morrison has been commissioned by the Greenhouse Playlab, a collaboration between Flat Earth Theatre and the Boston Museum of Science, to write a new play inspired by issues of climate change. The project culminates with an evening of excerpt readings of four plays by four Boston playwrights for the public at the Museum of Science (5/4). Free public workshop performances of the new plays will be held throughout the month of May.
Mary O’Malley has a solo exhibition, The Birds & the Bees: In Celebration of the Pollinators at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden Alice Milton Gallery (3/5-5/13, reception 3/10, 1-3 PM).
Susan Rivo has numerous screenings of her film Left on Pearl this month, including: Weston Public Library (3/1, 1:30 PM); The Boston Women’s Fund International Women’s Day Celebration at Somerville Theatre (3/7, 7 PM); ArtBeat Creativity Screening at Capitol Theatre (3/17, 7 PM); and Smith College (3/22, 4 PM).
Evelyn Rydz has numerous exhibitions this month: she’s exhibiting with Ellen Miller Gallery at Art on Paper at Pier 36 in New York City (3/8-3/11); in the group show Plastic Entanglements: Ecology, Aesthetics, Materials at the Pennsylvania State University Palmer Museum of Art (thru 6/17); her interactive installation Salty>Sour Seas at the ICA Art Lab has a “Closing & Phytoplankton Popsicle Tasting” event (3/10, 2-4 PM); and she has a two-person exhibition with Pam Longobardi, Micro to Macro at Boston Sea Rovers (3/9-3/11).
Peter Snoad‘s new full-length play The Growing Stone – a dark-secret family drama set in Vermont – will receive its first staged reading at Outvisible Theatre’s Detroit New Works Festival (4/27-4/28). In February, Peter’s short play Notice premiered at the New Voices Festival of Greenbrier Valley Theatre in Lewisburg, WV. And two other shorts, Simple Pleasures and The Greening of Bridget Kelly will be produced respectively at Pensacola Little Theatre (5/4-5/13), and the 13th InspiraTO Festival in Toronto, Canada (6/7-6/16).
Tracy Heather Strain‘s film Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart, a documentary about Lorraine Hansberry, screens in the Bright Lights Film Series at Emerson College (3/20, 7 PM).

Ellen Wetmore is among the artists exhibiting in the latest Art on the Marquee at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, from Boston Cyberarts.
