Writers Residency The Rockvale Writers’ Colony in Tennessee is open for residency applications from writers of any genre. Rockvale Writers’ Colony exists to support, promote, and educate writers of all backgrounds who write in any genre. Call for Residencies in Ukraine IZOLYATSIA seeks U.S.-based artists for a year long residency program, October 2018 — September 2019. Funding is available thanks to support from the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. Residencies are for a period of one month. The preference goes to the artists who employ different media to investigate post-industrial regeneration, creative economy, complex social and political matters of migration and displacement, performative or participatory practices engaging with local communities, performance practice, interdisciplinary research (Social Sciences, Biology, Music, Robotic Science, Gender Studies combined with art). Call to Artists The Friends of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library are gearing up for a new round of submissions to select the exhibitions for 2019 season. These bi-monthly exhibits will be proposal-based and selected by a committee comprised by representatives of the Central BPL, JP Branch, Friends of the JP Library, as well as standing members of the local business and arts community. The Friends welcome artists from across New England to submit recent two-dimensional work for a solo or group show, each lasting for two-month periods. There is no specific theme, but artists are encouraged to include work that can be enjoyed by the diverse visitorship of the JP Branch Library, including children, teens, and other community members. Performing Artists Grants The Live Arts Boston (LAB) program, is accepting applications from performing artists, groups of artists, and small performing arts organizations in the Greater Boston area to apply for funding in support of 2019 projects. LAB provides up to $15,000 per project to create, produce or present new work for Greater Boston audiences. In addition to grant funds, grantees will receive support for project documentation, mentorship, peer networking opportunities, and professional development. Learn more.

Urban Designers The Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence (RBA) is a national urban design award that seeks to promote innovative thinking about the built environment and advance conversation about making cities better. The award discovers and celebrates urban places that are distinguished by quality design along with their social and economic contributions to our nation’s cities. One Gold Medal of $50,000 and four Silver Medals of $10,000 are awarded each biennial. Winners are selected by a committee comprised of six urban experts, including a mayor. Each winner is documented with a detailed case study so that the ideas and lessons learned may be shared with others. Learn more.

Printmaking Residency Zea Mays Printmaking is offering a subsidized fellowship for a 2-week residency in their printmaking studio to one printmaker who demonstrates artistic excellence, a love of printmaking and the intention of future achievement in the field of safer and non-toxic printmaking. Their residency offers the artist a private studio within the larger Zea Mays Printmaking facility. The residency studio has a 40″ x 72″ Takach etching press, large worktables and 24/7 access. Residency artists are housed in their on-site apartment which includes a full kitchen, bath, sitting room and private bedroom. Access to the studios’ etching, screen printing, photopolymer and letterpress facilities is available during open studio hours. Open to all printmakers who are working without solvents or committed to converting from traditional methods to sustainable practices. Learn more.
