Anti-Racism Training for Artists and Cultural Leaders The Cultural Equity Learning Community (CELC) is a self-paced, two-unit [12 session] anti-racism training with wrap-around supports open to arts and culture leaders committed to building intersectional racial equity. The CELC is created specifically for arts administrators, educators, artists, researchers, board members, funders, and students (our next gen leaders!). This cohort will be limited to 300 participants, with registration offered on a sliding scale from $0-$250 p/person. Thanks to the generosity of the Mass Cultural Council, there are up to 100 fully funded spots open for MA arts & culture arts leaders. Registration opens on 5/15/23 and course begins 8/01/23. Call for Artists for State Police Southern Barracks This is a new public art commission for an exterior artwork for the R.I. State Police Southern Barracks to be built in West Greenwich. The budget for the artwork is $100,000. The Call is open to working artists, who reside in R.I., Mass., Conn., N.H., Vermont, Maine and N.Y. Undergraduate students are excluded. Call to Artists Artists are invited to participate in Norwood Art Walk on Saturday, May 20, 2023, 12-4 p.m. in Norwood Center. Norwood Art Walk is open for submission to all artists 21 years of age and up. Original artwork only – acceptable mediums are: painting (acrylic, oil or watercolor), photography, printmaking (etching, lithography, monoprints), drawing, pastels, ceramics, fiber arts, jewelry (please – no beadwork!). Arts Writers Grant The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant supports emerging and established writers who write about contemporary visual art. Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 in three categories—articles, books, and short-form writing—the grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences, from short reviews for magazines and newspapers to in-depth scholarly studies. 2023 Women@MIT Fellowship MIT Libraries’ Department of Distinctive Collections (DDC) is seeking applicants for its 2023 Women@MIT Fellowship. We invite artists, activists, musicians, writers, and scholars who are engaged in the expansion and expression of knowledge to help inform the understanding of women in MIT’s history and the history of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are particularly interested in those who will apply the interdisciplinary lenses and methodologies of women’s studies, gender studies, and/or race and ethnic studies to their work. The selected Fellows will work with the Women@MIT project archivist and other staff within MIT Libraries’ Department of Distinctive Collections. Successful candidates must be willing to engage in archival research either in person or in a remote environment. The fellowship is supported by a stipend of $5,000 for each Fellow. Learn more.

Studio Residency Fellowship The VisArts Studio Fellowship 2023-2024 applications are currently being accepted from artists for a six-month Studio Fellowship at VisArts in Rockville, MD. Boston Dancemakers Residency Boston’s most comprehensive residency program for choreographers, dancers, and other movement artists, the Boston Dancemakers Residency is designed to support new work from conception to performance. Produced through a partnership between Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) and Boston Dance Alliance (BDA), this intensive Dancemakers Residency is unique in scope and vision, with the intent to be transformational in artistic risk-taking and growth within the dance industry, rather than designed to produce finished work. Two choreographers participating in this competitive program will receive support for research, development, rehearsal, production support, marketing and mentorship. The residency provides a regional three-day retreat, ten weeks of intensive studio time, access to discounted rehearsal space, a choreographer stipend, rehearsal pay for up to six dancers, and a showcase of the work created. BCA Dance Lab The Dance Lab at Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) offers choreographers and dancers the opportunity to further research and revise works that address pressing issues and reflections on humanity. Through a series of open rehearsals, the artists create a feedback loop with mentors and those impacted or involved in the addressed topic. Dance Lab supports a handful of dance-based artists to continue to explore and develop existing work through the lens of process extending beyond the initial premiere of a work. Resources such as rehearsal space, industry advocacy, and dramaturgical support will be tailored for each artist’s needs and point of their artistic arc. Learn more.

Craft Artists Support Program Applications are currently being accepted for the Society of Arts and Crafts’ Craft Innovation Jumpstarter program. In 2023, the Society will award four (4) grants of $3,000 each, with award cycles in the summer and winter. The Society’ Craft Innovation Jumpstarter is a new artist support program that focuses on craft artists who take chances, learn through experimentation, and want to connect with others working on similar creative problems. In its pilot phase, the Society’s program will provide grants to artists needing financial resources to pursue new directions or to advance new ideas in their work. Learn more.
