Call for Dancers Dance/NYC along with Buglisi Dance Theatre, its partner Steps on Broadway, and professional colleagues and friends from the NYC dance community on the ninth presentation of the 9/11 Table of Silence Project performance ritual for peace at Lincoln Center streamed live around the world. New Yorker for Dance Jacqulyn Buglisi invites all dance companies and dancers with professional experience to unite with her in this much needed message of solidarity and peace among nations, and to touch the hearts of many from the cultural capital of America to the world. Emerging African American Writers Prize Entries are currently being accepted for a prize of $10,000 to an emerging African American writer for a book of fiction published in the current year. The winner also receives travel and lodging expenses to attend an awards ceremony and participate in educational outreach events in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in January 2020. The judges are Anthony Grooms, Edward P. Jones, Elizabeth Nunez, Francine Prose, and Patricia Towers. Submit eight copies of a short story collection or a novel (or bound galleys) published in 2019. Printmakers The Ruth Chalfin Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to artists wishing to take a workshop at Zea Mays Printmaking. The scholarship fund was named after founder Liz Chalfin’s mother who was an avid supporter of Zea Mays Printmaking and believed strongly in helping those in need.
Call to Black Female Artists Sweetwater is seeking works created by Black female artists that explore ideas, experiences, triumphs and struggles specific to being a Black woman in America. LISTEN seeks to illuminate intersectionality, give voice to Black women, and encourage all to hear their realities. Book Arts Fellowships Applications are currently being accepted for the MCBA/Jerome Book Arts Fellowships. Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) is a visual arts nonprofit organization that supports creative expression through traditional and contemporary book arts, including papermaking, bookbinding, and letterpress printing. This MCBA administered fellowship program uses an independent jury of three arts professionals to competitively award three fellowships. The fellowship runs from October 2019 – October 2020 and includes: $5,000 stipend for proposed project (this may cover materials, production costs, time, and travel); 24/7 access to MCBA studios and equipment use; 3 group critiques with MCBA staff and guest critics; One year MCBA Membership; Technical support from MCBA staff; Fellowship exhibition in MCBA’s Main Gallery in Fall 2020. Playwright Residencies The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is accepting applications for the National Playwright Residency Program, a program in partnership with Howlround, A Center for the Theater Commons at Emerson College. Theaters and playwrights can submit joint applications for the program, which provides artist compensation and benefits so that the artist can serve as a resident playwright at the co-applying institution for a period of three years. Exhibition Proposals The Cultural Center of Cape Cod is currently accepting exhibition proposals for its 2020 exhibition season. Solo and group exhibitions of ALL fine art mediums will be considered (oil, acrylic, watermedia, pastel, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, fiber, wood, digital art) except sculpture and video. Exhibitions will be chosen from submitted applications only. The exhibit will be hung in the Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s Education Wing and Owl Hall Connector, which includes 30 linear feet of the Walker hanging system. Artist notification by October 18, 2019 Interested applicants should submit: name, address, phone number, and e-mail; cover letter; description of the proposed exhibition; Resume/CV; artist statement; digital portfolio (include not more than 20 images of current artwork proposed for this exhibition), with artwork title, medium, size, price, and year.
