Free Storytelling Workshop Digital Green Card Stories: American Immigrant Narrative, Saturday, June 18, 11AM-1PM, Hibernian Hall, 184 Dudley St #200, Boston, MA. Immigrant stories are a significant part of American history, but are often ignored or silenced. This free storytelling workshop led by local African folklore artist Dzidzor will create an opportunity to bring awareness to the immigrant experience in America. Through writing exercises, world-building, games, and visual art, participants will create a written narrative inspired by their own relationship and journey to the American land. This event is free and open to all! Attendees of this workshop will receive access to 2 free tickets to the June 28 performance of the American Repertory Theater’s production of 1776 and are invited to the program’s closing celebration on Spectacle Island on July 23rd. Cultural Field Research Grant The Community Collections Grants from the American Folklife Center (AFC) funds and support contemporary cultural field research and documentation within diverse communities. Available to Individuals and Organizations, the grants offer up to $50,000 each to support projects within their communities to produce ethnographic cultural documentation, such as interviews with community members and audio-visual recordings of cultural activity, from the community perspective. The Center will archive the collections from grant projects to preserve and showcase this rich and valuable cultural documentation, expanding its representation and inclusion of contemporary cultural expressions and traditions that may otherwise be absent from the national record. Call to Artists Art Fluent invites artists worldwide to submit artwork to their online exhibit, MOTION. Artists are challenged to capture a moment in time, a split second communicated as a visual suggestion of motion. Whether through line, texture, contrast, patterns, or color, we use all kinds of methods to translate movement in our art. Motion in artwork also helps the viewer’s eye move from one part of the piece to the next. Rhythm and flow can be implied through capturing movement as the work itself or how we are supposed to move within the piece. Over $1,200 in cash prizes.
