Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowships Artist Fellowships applications are now available. The Fellowships are direct grants to artists to recognize exceptional creative work. We are currently accepting application s in the following categories: Fiction/Creative Nonfiction, Painting, and Drawing & Printmaking. This year fellowships are $15,000 each and finalist awards are $5,000. Attend an optional, online info session on January 12, 2022, 11am (ET). Learn more about the fellowships.

Disaster Relief Funding CERF+’s emergency relief grants will focus on materials-based craft and folk/traditional artists that incurred significant medical expenses related to treatment and recovery from COVID-19 AND/OR experienced a recent, career threatening emergency, such as an illness, accident, fire or natural disaster. Juried Exhibition Artists are encouraged to submit to Human Being / Being Human: Experience. Reflection. Engagement., an open juried exhibit at Boston’s Piano Craft Gallery in collaboration with the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry and the Newton Art Association. The jurors are Piano Craft Gallery Exhibition Director Erik Grau and artist Ibrahim Ali-Salaam. Open to all artists, $25 fee. Learn more.

Municipalities: Learn about Public Art Massachusetts municipalities are invited to participate in Making it Public, a free training by Forecast Public Art in partnership with the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council. The training is designed to equip administrators to strengthen local capacity to support, create, and promote public art. At the conclusion of the training, participants will have the tools needed to create their own Call for Temporary Public Art and will be eligible to receive a $10,000 grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts. Artist Residency Fellowships Applications are now open for The Studios at MASS MoCA’s Summer-Fall 2022 residency season. This round, because of the continuing impact of pandemic-related rescheduling, The Studios at MASS MoCA will only be able to accept applications for Summer/Fall 2022 from artists who qualify for one of the limited number of residency fellowships. Literature Fellowships: Translation Projects Support for the translation of works of prose, poetry, or drama into English. Through fellowships to published translators, the National Endowment for the Arts supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English.Grants are up to $25,000. Artist in Residence The Mackinac State Historic Parks Artist-In-Residence Program is designed to promote and encourage the creation of artistic works inspired by the history, natural wonders, and beauty of Mackinac Island, MI. The residencies are available to artists in all mediums, including writers, composers, sculptures, and visual artists including photographers, among others. Learn more.

Artist Residencies I-Park is now accepting applications for its fully-funded residencies. This multidisciplinary program is open to visual artists looking to enrich their practice in a collegial, retreat-like setting—in the company of others working in creative writing, music composition/sound art, moving image and architecture/landscape design. Located within a 450-acre nature preserve in rural East Haddam, Connecticut (U. S.), I-Park provides residents with private living quarters in a renovated 1840s farmhouse, a private studio, meals program, fully-equipped workshop and modest library—as well as creative access to I-Park’s expansive grounds. The visual arts residency is suitable for artists working in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, book arts, mixed media, site-responsive art, environmental art and installation. Opportunity Fund The Boston Opportunity Fund is once again accepting applications. These are grants to artists living in the city of Boston to further develop their careers and help provide access and community engagement opportunities throughout the city. Several changes have been made to the program this year: artists can now apply for a $5,000 Artist Career Development grant, or a $10,000 Community Arts Experiences grant. Learn more.

Center for Craft’s 2023 Curatorial Fellowship In this yearlong program, three fellows will each receive $5,000 to develop and mount an exhibition at the Center for Craft in Asheville, NC. Three Curatorial Fellows will be selected to fully develop and mount their proposed exhibition in the Center for Craft’s exhibition spaces, located in Asheville, North Carolina, during the 2023 exhibition season. Fellows will work closely with the Center for Craft program staff to produce the exhibition, develop didactic material and an exhibition catalog, as well as lead a curatorial talk for a Center for Craft program.
