Call for Artists The Dorchester Arts Collaborative is actively seeking Artists for their monthly gallery exhibitions. Accepting 2D and 3D works no larger than 4’x4′. 80 lbs max. Dorchester residents preferred, but not required. Entries will be reviewed by the exhibition committee of the DAC Board on a rolling basis, as entries are submitted. The committee will inform artists of its interest in working with said artist for future endeavors, including group/solo shows. Artists will be notified within a week of the first of the month. Accepted work should be delivered to 157 A Washington St. Dorchester, MA. Each exhibit lasts at least one month. Program designed for students, artists, scientists, professionals and anyone interested in nature, art, and biology. ISLAND LIFE: Tropical Field Studies of Art+Nature in Puerto Rico is a hands-on, immersive, and project-based program that integrates biology and art in the field, at various environments in Puerto Rico. The focus of the program is to learn about Puerto Rico’s diverse wildlife through artmaking and field biology. They will travel to rainforests, dry forests, beach, coastal, coral reef, mangrove, and mountain environments. The program involves multiple site-specific projects that integrate creativity, art and biology. Learn more.

Humor Writing The Mark Twain House & Museum is accepting entries for the Royal Nonesuch Humor Writing Contest. A prize of $1,000 is given annually for a humorous short story or essay. Excerpts of the winning piece will be published on the Mark Twain House & Museum website. Learn more.

Call to Artists Fort Point Arts Community invites artists to submit work to the exhibition MATERIALS WITNESS at The Gallery at Atlantic Wharf. Guest Curator: Leah Triplett Harrington. Materials Witness invites artists to submit work that considers and presents how histories are visually represented or encoded physically. Submissions must push viewers to examine how time is physically reflected in the objects and infrastructures around them. Work in any medium, including video, will be considered. Furniture Fellowship Applications are now being accepted by The Society of Arts and Crafts for the The John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship whereby $25,000 is awarded annually to one artist. The fellowship will focus on furniture makers whose work is contemporary and functional and artists who live/work in Northeast United States. Traditional and sculptural furniture makers as well as candidates from other regions in the United States may be considered. Learn more.

Photographers Entries are now being accepted for the CDS/Honickman First Book Prize In Photography, an award for a North American photographers pursuing work of creative or social importance. The winner receives $3,000, publication of a book of photography, a solo exhibit, and inclusion in the Archive of Documentary Arts in Duke University’s Rubenstein Library. Learn more.
