Local Cultural Council Grants Deadline Extended Due to technical difficulties, the deadline has been extended for applications to our Local Cultural Council program. Applicants may apply to the LCC Program for projects, operating support, ticket subsidy programs, field trips, artist residencies, fellowships or other activities, based on local priorities and needs. LCCs may also choose to fund cultural field trips for children, grades pre-K through 12, by subsidizing the cost for children to attend programs in the arts, humanities, and sciences (including performances, educational tours, and exhibits). Call for Curators: The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) presents CURATE BAC, an inaugural competitive curatorial program that will support the career development of a Boston area curator. One curatorial resident will be accepted into the program and will work collaboratively with the BAC to create a rich and diverse 2023 program for our two galleries. It is a yearlong initiative that fosters shared experimentation, exchange, and creativity to collaboratively produce engaging exhibitions and programs. Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama Residency The ACTivate Residency at Boston Center for the Arts grants artists full use of the Cyclorama for a week. Experiment, play, and feel no pressure to create a final product. Performing Artists Mark DeGarmo Dance seeks applicants for the 2023 season of its transcultural transdisciplinary Salon Performance Series for Social Change: a sharing of works-in-progress with a facilitated audience response curated, facilitated, and encouraged by dancer, choreographer, writer, and researcher, Dr. Mark DeGarmo. Your portion of the event will include presenting up to a 10-minute excerpt of a work-in-progress and participating in up to 10 minutes of audience feedback on your work. The performance may be hosted on Zoom, in their studio, or a combination of both. Each performer will play their own audio from their device in collaboration with MDD’s technical director. There is no fee to apply. All selected artists will receive marketing and promotion materials and support through MDD’s marketing, advertising, and sales division. The in-kind value of this “VSPS artist’s fellowship” is $2,195. They expect each artist to be motivated by the VSPS opportunity to bring 15 – 20 individuals to their performance to support their career goals and trajectories. Filmmakers Grant The Frameline Completion Fund provides grants to emerging and established filmmakers. Grants up to $5,000 are available for the completion of films that represent and reflect LGBTQ+ life in all its complexity and richness. Grants are given only for completion. Chapbook Prize The 2023 Harvard Review Chapbook Prize will be given in fiction for a work of novella length (15,000 to 30,000 words). In subsequent years, the prize will be awarded in nonfiction (2024) and poetry (2025). The winning novella will be announced in the spring of 2023. The author will receive $500, publication of their work in a limited-edition chapbook series, and an invitation to read at the Houghton Library at Harvard University in the fall of 2023. Emerging Curators The VisArts Emerging Curator Program offers a unique opportunity for an emerging curator or artist with interest in exhibition making or curating to work with an experienced mentoring curator to develop and present an exhibition and to assist in the presentation of the mentor’s exhibition. VisArts will provide the Emerging Curator with a budget of $10,000 to cover exhibition costs and curatorial fees. This call for emerging curators and artists with interests in exhibition making is open to applicants from all over the world, providing that they are eligible to work in the United States. Arts in Nature Residency Program Applications are being accepted for the 2023 Bernheim Artist in Residence program in Clermont, KY (20 miles south of Louisville). For more than four decades, the Artist in Residence program has attracted artists from around the world who seek to use Bernheim as their inspiration. Bernheim’s Artist in Residence Program promotes multi-disciplinary explorations of our relationship with the natural environment through artistic expression, expanding upon Bernheim’s long history of art in the landscape. $2500 stipend.
