Artists, Writers, Scholarship Awards The Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) is offering over 60 week-long workshops as part of their Fine Arts Work Center Summer Workshop Program. Applicants are welcome to apply for scholarships to attend these programs. The FAWC are committed to making their summer workshops as accessible as possible to people with low incomes, from the BIPOC community, the AAPI community, the LGBTQ+ community and from other systematically marginalized communities. Call to Artists The Tiny Art For All Gallery Project is a series of 5 small-scale, interactive Popup art galleries located along the bike path between Northampton and Florence, Massachusetts. Each gallery will host one artist, exhibition or collaboration for 2 months each unless your project utilizes all 5 galleries. The mission of the Tiny Art for All Gallery Project is to provide new opportunities for anyone identifying as artist/maker and to place art directly into communities to engage and interact with. They celebrate innovative thinking about what these spaces could become and are open to exhibitions, residencies, augmented reality components, sound, etc. Each Gallery will feature signage connecting via QR codes to more information about each project and each artist featured. Each gallery will be open to the public at all times. This project is in partnership with the Friends of Northampton Trails, and we are excited about the possibilities for the Tiny Art For All Galleries to become part of walking and bike tours, artist talks, performance elements, etc. This project is sponsored by the Northampton Arts Council and generous sponsors. Call to Artists The City of Boston is looking for Boston artists for their Neighborhood Sign Redesign to beautify our city and bring local art to Boston’s neighborhoods! Fine Arts Work Center Scholarships for Boston Emerging Writers Fine Arts Work Center has partnered with the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture and City of Boston Poet Laureate Porsha Olayiwola to offer full scholarships to six emerging writers. Writers will spend one week in Provincetown, Massachusetts writing and studying under a poet of their choice in summer 2023. Tuition and lodging are covered via the scholarship. Artists must have lived or worked in the city of Boston for at least the last two years. Emerging writers must be between the ages of 18 and 35 or have published no more than one book (if you self-published a book, you are eligible!). Creative Writing Fellowships The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program awards grants in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry to published creative writers that enable the recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement. Call for Artists Ratio Therapeutics is accepting entries for their Cancer Journey display. Opportunity for a month-long group exhibit in commercial setting in Boston for artists that have been affected by cancer – either your own journey or witnessing the journey of a loved one – and have used your art to support, process or heal from the experience. Seeking approximately 10 artists to display 1-2 pieces each. 2D and 3D works as well as digital pieces will be considered. Size: 36”x36” and larger or multiple smaller pieces that can be hung as a group will show best in the space. Work must be ready to hang. Display dates: April 17th – May 19, 2023. Ratio Therapeutics is an innovative new cancer therapeutics company developing novel radiotherapeutics with the hope of extending the lives of cancer patients without sacrificing quality of life. Ratio’s co-founders both recently lost loved ones to cancer. They, along with all of Ratio’s team members, are driven to be a part of the cure for this disease. As part of the opening of Ratio’s new research laboratory and office space they want to honor the cancer journeys that so many have made. Call to Artists The Artists Group of Charlestown is currently accepting entries for their exhibition, Light and Shadow: Bringing Artwork To Life. The exhibit will focus on the behavior of light on subject matter, its shadow, and how this relationship renders depth, dimension and drama as a result. All media, 2D (Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography), 3D (Sculpture, Ceramics), and Fiber Arts, are eligible. Writers and Artists Residency Applications are currently being accepted for the Eastern Frontier Educational Foundation’s Residency program. For the past 22 years, they have hosted writers, artists, poets, composers and screenwriters on Norton Island. More than 500 writers and artists have traveled to this remote island in Down East Maine for 10 days of splendid isolation and concentrated work on their craft. The accommodations are rustic, as in off the grid and dependent on an artesian well. Participants gather for dinner nightly and readings and discussion that typically ends around a bon fire. The only rule is don’t disturb people when they are at work. Sessions are July 10 – 20 and August 7 – 17, 2023. Learn more.

Call to Artist The Southborough Open Land Foundation and Art on the Trails Program Director Catherine Weber are pleased to announce the theme for the 7th annual juried exhibition, Art on the Trails is Transformation. Public Art Grant The Henderson Foundation’s grants provide support for projects focused on the enhancement of the appearance and preservation of outdoor elements in the city of Boston. The Foundation encourages applications for projects in all neighborhoods of the city of Boston that concerns parks, city streets, buildings, monuments, and architectural and sculptural works. Most grants awarded in the regular grants program will be in the $20,000-$50,000 range, but the Designators will consider all projects that fulfill the Foundation’s goals and offer outstanding benefit to the community. Craft Artists Support Program Applications are currently being accepted for the Society of Arts and Crafts’ Craft Innovation Jumpstarter program. In 2023, the Society will award four (4) grants of $3,000 each, with award cycles in the summer and winter. The Society’s Craft Innovation Jumpstarter is a new artist support program that focuses on craft artists who take chances, learn through experimentation, and want to connect with others working on similar creative problems. In its pilot phase, the Society’s program will provide grants to artists needing financial resources to pursue new directions or to advance new ideas in their work. Learn more.
