Singers The TV show The X Factor has announced an open call audition in Providence, RI on May 10, 2012. They are also accepting online submissions for those who cannot make it out to Providence. They are looking for solo singers, girl groups, duos, boy bands or vocal groups. The competition is open to everyone that is 12 years old (as of January 1, 2012) and above, with no age cap. Children’s Writer-in-Residence Program The Associates of the Boston Public Library is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Children’s Writer-in-Residence Program. Projects eligible for this program are fiction, non-fiction, a script, or poetry, intended for children or young adults. Illustrations may be combined with any of these formats, but are not required. The selected applicant will receive a $20,000 stipend and office space at the BPL’s Central Library in Copley Square. Learn more.

Visual Art Grants The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications from mid-career painters, sculptors, printmakers, or mixed media artist in New England and Columbia and Northeast Dutchess counties, NY. Non-profit organizations wishing to show, commission, or purchase work by mature artists (meaning one’s age, not emotional maturity) living in New England may also apply.
