Call for Public Art The Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway (FoMEWG) are looking to commission an artist to create a mural on the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway (MEWG), in the East Boston neighborhood in Boston, MA. Local artists are highly encouraged to apply. The MEW Greenway is a recreational open space in East Boston. Residents of all ages use it for running, jogging, walking, and biking. The FoMEWG has worked on several art pieces on City of Boston property and will support the artist with the approval process from the Boston Art Commission (BAC). The FoMEWG has also been working with the Boston Parks Department and the BAC to develop this project in winter 2022/2023. The proposed themes for the mural are nature and water. Learn more.

Call For Artists The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts in partnership with the Rhode Island State Police is accepting qualifications for the public art commission at the new Southern Barracks to be built in West Greenwich. The budget for the artwork is $100,000. The Call is open to working artists, who reside in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and New York. Of Note: MASSCreative is excited to launch their new FREE four-part virtual training series for artists, creatives, cultural leaders, and political changemakers. The Creative Advocacy Training Series is perfect for novice and experienced organizers looking to deepen their skillset. We are eager to connect advocates who are passionate about creating a more equitable and inclusive creative sector. Each session will include instructors who are knowledgeable in advocacy and organizing, opportunities for participants to share their experiences and learn from fellows, and time for questions. The trainings will take place on Zoom, from 9am – 11am on the following dates: Friday, May 19th, Friday, May 26th, Friday, June 2nd, Friday, June 9th. Participants should plan to attend all four trainings. Recordings and presented materials will be shared with participants following the session. The series is limited to 50 participants in order to ensure an active series.
