The 4th Allston DIY Fest will take place on August 24th from 11am-4pm in Ringer Park Allston, MA. The event is an open platform for artists to come, set up a table or blanket, trade art or take donations and enjoy local music throughout the day. They still have available tables to display art. Public Art Design Commission The Cambridge Arts Council (CAC) is seeking qualified artists and designers interested in creating a permanent street feature for the reconstruction of Fern Street, a one-block street between Concord Avenue and Field Street in Northwest Cambridge. From this RFQ, four finalists will be invited to submit proposals, one of which will be selected for the final commission. The $85,000 commission will cover all services from design through final installation, including artist fee, travel, community meetings, fabrication, insurance, transportation, installation, and coordination with City staff and contractor. Digital Art Entries are now being accepted for the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) 2013 International Juried Competition. This year’s curators are Holly Harrison, L.A. County Museum of Art and Peter Frank, Riverside Art Museum. All styles of artwork and photography where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. Women Filmmakers Entries are now being accepted for the London Feminist Film Festival. Women directors from any country may enter. In the case of multiple directors, all should be women. Films should deal with feminist issues and/or be feminist in their representation of women. Films can be of any length or genre, and from any year. Short Plays The Company Theatre in Norwell is currently accepting submissions of 10 minute plays for their Winter Shorts Play Festival. Boston area Artists/Performers ExpressingBoston is currently accepting proposals for small grants or contracts for cultural flash mobs in any artistic medium. Twelve applicants residing in the city of Boston will be selected to receive grants of up to $2,500 to each coordinate and present one project or performance.
