Tracy Winn (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’08) passed along this image, the newly finalized cover design for her upcoming story collection, Mrs. Somebody Somebody. The book is due out from Southern Methodist University Press in Spring ’09. (Read about what else our fellows/finalists are up to in the current Fellows Notes.)
It’s an intriguing image that points up the great qualities of Tracy’s writing – its blend of offbeat details, humor, and humanity. (Read a sample of Tracy’s work.)
And it brings up an interesting question that many artists face – how do you select the image that represents your work, whatever the media? Whether it’s a book cover or promotional image… what information do you want it to convey? And what do you want it to hold back?
