The short film embedded above is by Emma Angen Rose, a collaboration with Ilana Manolson (Painting Fellow ’18, ’08).
Manolson, who has a solo exhibition at the Cadogan Contemporary Gallery in London in April 2019, shared with us that when she received her most recent award (she won a $12,000 Fellowship in Painting in 2018), she took the opportunity to hire another artist for a project outside the Concord painter’s usual scope. This offered Manolson the chance to both take a risk and to “pay it forward” so another artist also benefited from the award.
The video includes text and painting by Ilana Manolson and videography by Emma Angen Rose.

Beautiful! The reflections, movement of the water, movement of the paint, the poem.
Bravo!
