Call to Artists The Fitchburg Cultural Council has announced a call to artists to participate in their October 4, 2014 pop up art showcase, Pop Fitchburg: Pop-up Art Exhibition. The goals is to offer an art and cultural event showcasing varied artistic expressions from regional artists as well as to spread awareness of the Fitchburg Cultural Council’s 2014-15 grant application season. Public artwork of all types will be placed throughout Destare Martini Bar and Club, located at 320 Main Street, Fitchburg. Submitted artwork should be finished pieces and when possible, ways to display art should be considered. Landscape Redefined The Carole Calo Gallery at Stonehill College is seeking entries for a juried exhibition redefining what we understand landscape to be, either through image, placement, or context. The gallery will accept any media and will also consider site-specific work or work outside of the gallery’s four walls. Selected artists will work closely with the gallery director and a group of student curators. A printed catalog is included. The exhibition dates are November 3-December 12 with a reception on November 14th. Fiber Artists Imago Foundation for the Arts has issues a call for entries for Multiplicities: New Directions in Fiber. The juried exhibition, which seeks work created using or referencing any fiber techniques and vocabularies, will run October 17 – November 8, 2014 at the Imago Gallery in Warren, RI. Artist Residency Fellowships The MacDowell Colony is currently accepting fellowship applications, available to artists of exceptional talent. A fellowship consists of exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for two weeks to two months. There is no cost for a fellowship; travel funds and stipends are available to artists-in-residence based on need. Learn more.

Librettists and Lyricists Applications are now being accepted for the Kleban Award, given annually to both a librettist and a lyricist, each of whom receives $100,000, payable in 2 annual installments of $50,000. Applicants must either have had work previously produced on a stage or in a workshop performance or be or have been a member or associate of a professional musical workshop or theater group, i.e., ASCAP, BMI Theater Workshop, or the Dramatists Guild Musical Theater Development Program.
