Call to Artists AREA CODE, a new initiative created to support New England artists and the organizations that support them. The Fair’s main online section will showcase solo presentations from art galleries, nonprofit organizations with exhibition spaces, and artists without gallery representation with strong ties to New England. Call to Artists The Brookline Open Studios & Marketplace is going virtual this year. Launching in October, this unique and engaging event will include a number of opportunities to experience a diverse range of creative works and interact with artists from Brookline and beyond. In this virtual setting, over 70 artists will be featured on their website throughout the entire year with their own artist page as an opportunity to promote and sell their work. Additional event features include live virtual artist talks, demonstrations and studio tours, opportunities to purchase art and more. The participation fee is $100. In their ongoing work to be more inclusive, they strongly encourage all communities and artists within and beyond Brookline to participate, regardless of being able to pay the registration fee. Artist Residency The Studios at MASS MoCA is currently accepting applications for the Winter/Spring 2021 season, which includes their annual Massachusetts Financial Wellness Residency (1/27/21 – 2/23/21). Open to artists of any discipline who currently reside in the state of Massachusetts. A free, 4-week residency with all of the benefits of a regular stay at the Studios at MASS MoCA with the additional benefit of group workshops with Assets for Artists’ experts on personal finance, career development, and optional one-on-one assistance with financial planning and goal-setting. Artists will be selected based on financial need and readiness to benefit from the group workshops. To apply, simply select the appropriate box on the fellowships question of the Winter/Spring 2021 application. All Massachusetts artists of color will be considered for one of two additional $250 travel stipends to help defray personal costs incurred while attending the Financial Wellness residency. Innovate Grant awards (2) $550.00 grants each quarter, to one Visual Artist and one Photographer. Call for Artists Gallery 263 in Cambridge, MA, invites artists to submit work that considers truth and fabrication for their upcoming national exhibition, Fact vs. Fiction. This show is juried by Sam Adams, a Koch Curatorial Fellow at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA. Any 2D, 3D, and time-based work will be considered.
