Film and Video Artists The LEF Foundation Moving Image Fund is accepting applications for Pre-Production funding for independent documentary film and video projects. Through the Moving Image Fund, LEF provides funding across all phases of production, supporting films from the early risk-taking stage, through a film’s completion. Artist-in-Residence and Assistantship Opportunity on Martha’s Vineyard Applications are now being accepted for an artist-in-residency program (September 1-14, 2011) to create temporary, site-specific works on Martha’s Vineyard. In addition, artists interested in residencies but lacking the experience to apply for more established programs are encouraged to apply as assistants to the artists-in-residence. Sculpture students or those with extensive wood-working skills preferred. Housing will be provided at the Point Way Inn (Edgartown), as well as a site for working and some supplies. Artists of all disciplines and nationalities are invited to apply. Work with wood and/or the environment is not necessary to apply for a residency. Send 6 images (6 slides or images on a CD), a resume and statement, indicating why this opportunity interests you, a possible work plan/proposal and what you hope to gain from the experience by email (msherman@transculturalexchange.org) or by mail (Mary Sherman, 516 E. 2nd Street #30, Boston, MA 02127). Radio Art & Sound Art Work Radio As An Arts Space, CONA Institute for Contemporary Arts Processing is accepting submissions of contemporary sound art works. Selected works will be included in the exhibition Radio As An Arts Space which will be broadcast by radioCona and will appear at in situ locations in December 2011. The exhibition will at the same time occupy the radio frequencies and audio streams of international partners. The broadcast will be constituted as a gallery space with a curated exhibition delineated by the curators’ collection of selected works and featuring works selected through this open call. Call for Artists: The Winchester Cultural Council is holding a juried art fair on August 6 at the Farmer’s Market on the Town Common. A jury comprised of WCC members, practicing artists, art teachers, and committee members will judge original artwork of professional quality in any medium for acceptance. Flash Fiction Newport Review is now accepting submissions of original, unpublished flash fiction stories, including prose poetry and experimental forms, for the 2011 Newport Review Flash Fiction Contest. Stories should be no more than 1,000 words (no minimum). The contest has $500 in prizes, and all stories submitted will be considered for publication in Newport Review. Meg Pokrass is guest judge.
