One weekend this July, an art party will spring up on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. When it’s over, the whole event will disappear without a trace. (Like, say, a figment of someone’s imagination?)
FIGMENT Boston is a free, collaborative art experience, open to all. Artists/volunteers were encouraged to submit proposals that fit with FIGMENT’s principles, which include “participation” as a central concept, inclusivity, and leaving no physical trace once the festival is over. The weekend includes daytime events at the Rose Kennedy Greenway and nighttime “FIGMENT After Dark” activities in Dewey Square.
Some of the goings on include 3D mural by the community, with artist Nate Swain, a participatory art project about Boston’s history called The Line of Life, and performances by the Jamaica Plain Honk Band.
