Callie Chapman (Choreography Fellow ’20), Janet Loren Hill (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist ’19), and Dave Ortega (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’12) are among the artists receiving support from the 2021 Collective Futures Fund.
Laurence Cuelenaere (Photography Finalist ’21) and Michael Zachary (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’18) exhibit in Coded at Beacon Gallery in Boston (9/3-9/26).
Stephen DiRado (Photography Fellow ’11, ’03, ’91, ’87) co-curated and Kat O’Connor (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’18) is exhibiting in Now in Technicolor: A Juried Members’ Exhibition at ArtsWorcester (thru 9/19, reception 9/2, 6-9 PM ET).
John Gianvito (Film & Video Fellow ’15), Jessica Hankey (Film & Video Fellow ’19), and Adam Mazo (Film & Video Fellow ’21) are among the New England filmmakers who received awards through the Summer 2021 Moving Image Fund from the LEF Foundation.
Khary S. Jones (Film & Video Fellow ’21) is a Points North Fellow and Kathryn Ramey (Film & Video Fellow ’15) is a LEF/CIFF Fellow at Points North/the Camden International Film Festival in Maine.

Mira Cantor (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’79) has a solo exhibition, Woven, at Kingston Gallery in Boston (9/1-9/26).
Kim Carlino (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’16) has a solo exhibition, In Here Together, at Chashama in NYC (9/9-10/9).
Stephen DiRado (Photography Fellow ’11, ’03, ’91, ’87) and his photography are featured in the film With Dad, by filmmaker Soren Sorensen, about DiRado’s photography series of the same name. The film screens on WGBH starting 9/21, 7:30 PM ET, as part of World Alzheimer’s Day. Also, as mentioned above, DiRado co-curated Now in Technicolor: A Juried Members’ Exhibition at ArtsWorcester.
Rebecca Doughty‘s (Painting Finalist ’10) painting series Smile is on exhibit at Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown (9/3-9/26, opening reception 9/3, 6-9 PM ET).
Gary Duehr (Photography Fellow ’03) has a solo exhibition, Soft Cities, in the LaunchPad space of Boston Sculptors Gallery (thru 9/26, opening reception 9/3, 5 PM ET).
Madge Evers (Photography Finalist ’21) has a solo exhibition, The New Herbarium, at ArtsWorcester (thru 9/19, reception 9/2, 6-9 PM ET).
Congratulations to Magdalena Gómez (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’01), who was awarded an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship. The awards support US Poets Laureate (Magdalena is the Poet Laureate of Springfield) with $50,000 grants.
Eben Haines (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’18) is one of the 2021 James and Audrey Foster Prize artists at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston and has work in the accompanying exhibition.
Janet Loren Hill (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist 19) has work in the group exhibition [body]2[body] at The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in NYC (9/7-12/7) and in Conflict Point at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation in Charlotte NC, where she was an Artist-in-Residence (thru 9/5).
Simone John (Poetry Fellow ’20) (as Simone Ivory) has launched a new multimedia poetry project, Auntie’s Baby.
Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’17) and her work are featured in Analog Forever and The Hand magazines. She is exhibiting in open/unbound at the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas.
Carolyn Shadid Lewis (Film & Video Fellow ’11) has an outdoor release screening of InterGeneration at Mass Audubon’s Boston Nature Center in Mattapan (9/11, 7 PM ET). She directed the film, which features animation and storytelling from Boston teens and elders. The event is free but requires registration.
Erica Licea-Kane (Painting Fellow ’18) has a solo exhibition, Embedded Parts, at Kingston Gallery in Boston (9/1-9/26).
Rania Matar‘s (Photography Fellow ’07, ’11, ’21) photography book SHE is available for pre-order from Radius Books. The artist has current or upcoming exhibitions at Obscura Gallery in Santa Fe, C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore, and Robert Klein Gallery in Boston (where there will be a book signing this Fall).
Caitlin McCarthy (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’21) was selected to participate in the merit-based Coverfly Pitch Week. Her script A Native Land is a finalist for the Mystic Film Festival Screenplay Competition.
Lenelle Moise (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’15) co-wrote vignettes that appear throughout the new documentary Eyes on the Prize: Hallowed Ground, now streaming on HBO Max.
Lisa Olivieri (Film & Video Finalist ’09) has released the trailer for her new documentary, Recovery City.
January Gill O’Neil (Poetry Finalist ’18) joins Cyndy Veach and Joseph Legaspi for a virtual poetry reading hosted by CavanKerry Press (9/14, 7 PM ET).
Allison Maria Rodriguez (Film & Video Finalist ’21) has work in the group exhibition TBD by the Boston LGBTQIA+ Artist Alliance at Boston Cyberarts (9/10-10/17).
James Rutenbeck‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’19, ’11) nonfiction film A Reckoning in Boston screens at the Strand Theater in Rockland ME (9/2) and the Amherst Cinema in collaboration with the Center for Humanistic Inquiry (CHI Salon series) at Amherst College (9/8). It recently screened in Martha’s Vineyard in partnership with the MV Film Center.
Cam Terwilliger (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’08) received an Artist Fellowship from NYFA/NYSCA.
