Edie Bresler (Photography Fellow ’17) and Astrid Reischwitz (Photography Finalist ’21) are among the artists in Hand Eye Coordination at Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, organized by the Photographic Resource Center (10/26-12/5, online reception 11/18, 7 PM ET).
Rayna Chou (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’21) and Elizabeth James-Perry (Traditional Arts Fellow ’14) are among the artists in WBUR’s 2021 ARTery 25, outstanding Greater Boston artists of color.
Raúl Gonzalez (Painting Fellow ’16) aka Raúl the Third, Danielle Legros Georges (Poetry Fellow ’14), Rishi Reddi (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’04), and James Rutenbeck (Film & Video Finalist ’19, ’11) are among the artists taking part in the Boston Book Festival (10/15-10/23).
Danielle Legros Georges (Poetry Fellow ’14) and Lenelle Moïse (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’15) both have poetry in The Hard Work of Justice, a folio of six poems that speak to the Haitian experience. The folio is hosted by Mass Poetry. Danielle Legros Georges curated the folio and wrote an introductory essay.

Sophia Ainslie (Painting Fellow ’12) has a solo exhibition, Spill Without Splatter, at Gallery NAGA in Boston (10/8-11/6). On 10/23, 2 PM ET, Gallery NAGA will launch a new book celebrating a decade of the artist’s work, along with an artist walk-through of the exhibition.
Elizabeth Alexander (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’11) has work in Break the Mold: New Takes on Traditional Art Making at North Carolina Museum of Art (thru 2/6). She will also exhibit in Unending Emanation (10/7-10/9) at IESA Arts & Culture in Paris and continues to exhibit in the online show Call & Response: Craft as a Tool for Activism at the Museum of Craft & Design in San Francisco.
Luis Arnias (Film & Video Fellow ’13) is among the MacDowell Colony Fellows this Fall.
Joan Baldwin (Drawing and Printmaking Finalist ’00) has a solo exhibition at Kingston Gallery (thru 10/31).
Linda Bond (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’13) has a solo exhibition, Errors and Omission at the Drexel University Leonard Pearlstein Gallery in Philadelphia (10/14-2/20).
Sari Boren‘s (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Finalist ’14) essay “He’s a Rope” was published in the Sycamore Review and named a Notable Essay in the Best American Essays 2021.
Kim Carlino (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’16) is one of the three artists exhibiting in Spectra at ClipArtGallery in East Boston (thru 3/5/22).
Alexander Chee (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’10) will be among the panelists in Steel Yourself Before You Reveal Yourself, a virtual salon discussion hosted by Electric Lit and Mount Saint Mary’s University (10/12, 6 PM ET).
Janet Echelman‘s (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’09, Crafts Fellow ’09) large-scale public artworks were recently featured in the arts journal This Is Colossal.
Georgie Friedman (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’13) installation Snow Study II (Blizzard), will be exhibited in the Freedman Foyer Gallery at Albright College in Reading, PA (thru 12/5).
John Gianvito (Film & Video Fellow ’15) is the featured filmmaker in The DocYard’s New England Legacy series this year. Selections from his filmography screened at The Brattle in September and are screening online (thru 10/3). Also, the film Far From Afghanistan, which Gianvito co-directed, will screen at The Brattle Theater (10/18, 7 PM ET), presented by DocYard to benefit Community Supported Film’s Fund for Afghan Evacuation and Resettlement program.
Nacho González Nappa (Music Composition ’21) released an album of original songs for the TV show Club Mundo Kids, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The show airs on NBC Telemundo, Amazon Prime, and in many Latin American countries.
Elizabeth James-Perry (Traditional Arts Fellow ’14) joins Erin Genia for a discussion of the values that guide their work, from cross-cultural and Native art expressions to traditional ecological knowledge and the impact of climate change, at Tufts University Art Galleries (10/14, 12 PM ET). Wonderland‘s Greg Cook recently interviewed the artist about her project Raven Reshapes Boston at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
Khary S. Jones (Film & Video Fellow ’21) received a grant of $40,000 from the Firelight Media William Greaves Fund.
Marjorie Kaye (Painting Finalist ’18) has a solo exhibition, Energy Fields and Artifacts, at Galatea Fine Arts (thru 10/31).
Ariel Kotker (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’07) will participate in the Eastworks Open Studios 2021 (11/6-11/7) in Easthampton.
Danielle Legros Georges (Poetry Fellow ’14), along with being featured in Mass Poetry’s The Hard Work of Justice (see above), will take part in the virtual Phosphorescence Poetry Reading Series, hosted by the Emily Dickinson Museum (10/28, 6-7 PM ET).
Steve Locke (Photography Finalist 17, Painting Finalist ’14) has a solo exhibition, Homage to the Auction Block, at the Boston University Stone Gallery (thru 10/27).
Rania Matar (Photography Fellow ’21, ’11, ’07) will participate in the Photographic Resource Center Speaker Series at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline (also broadcast on Zoom) 10/18, 7-9 PM ET. Following the in-person presentation will be a book signing for the artist’s newly published monograph, SHE. She also has Rania Matar: SHE at Robert Klein Gallery in Boston (thru 12/15) with a book event (10/22 2-5 PM ET).
Adam Mazo and Ben Pender-Cudlip (Film & Video Fellows ’21) will have an online screening of their films Dawnland and Dear Georgina in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day (10/11, 7 PM ET).
Evan Morse (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’17) is the October artist in residence at the Goetemann Residency in Gloucester (artist talk 10/21 7 PM ET). He recently unveiled a memorial he created to Jim Blackburn, who coached at Newton North High School. He also completed a marble sculpture of poet/writer Julia Dorr, co-created with Taylor Apostol, for the Rutland Sculpture Trail in Vermont. He has current or recent exhibitions in SculptureNow at The Mount in Lennox (thru 10/13) and at Nearby Gallery in Newton.
Christine Rathbun Ernst (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’07, ’05) performs the one-woman show FACB 2021: Unmute Yourself at the Wellfleet Preservation Hall (10/8, 6 PM ET).
Monica Raymond‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’13) flash fiction work Uncle Skank has been nominated by Oyedrum for Best of the Net 2021. She also wrote lyrics/librettos for two pieces, Rubble and Dust and We’ll Finally Get to See the Grandkids (part of the larger opera Eruption: An Opera of Volcanic Proportions). The pieces are currently streaming online as part an Aria Institute showcase.
Jo Ann Rothschild (Painting Fellow ’98) has work in Remembering Together: Marking Lives COVID-19 at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, viewing by appointment.
James Rutenbeck‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’19, ’11) documentary film A Reckoning in Boston won Best Feature at Morehouse College Human Rights Film Festival.
Mitch Ryerson (Crafts Finalist ’21) is creating the Sensory Hilltop for the new Universal Design Playground at Danehy Park in Cambridge.
Joe Wardwell (Painting Fellow ’12) has a solo exhibition, I’m Afraid of Americans, at LaMontagne Gallery in Boston (10/22-12/18, Opening Reception 10/22, 5-8 PM ET).
Michael Zelehoski (Painting Fellow ’10) exhibited with Tang Contemporary Art at the Armory Show 2021.
