María Luisa Arroyo (Poetry Fellow ’04), Charles Coe (Poetry Fellow ’96), Steven Cramer (Poetry Fellow ’14), Oliver de la Paz (Poetry Fellow ’20), Amy Dryansky (Poetry Fellow ’18, ’12), Krysten Hill (Poetry Fellow ’20), Kirun Kapur (Poetry Finalist ’18), Karen Skolfield (Poetry Fellow ’14) are participating in virtual readings and events as part of the biennial Mass Poetry Festival (5/13-5/16). Daniel Johnson (Poetry Finalist ’20, ’18) is the Executive Director of Mass Poetry.
Ken Field (Music Composition Finalist ’17) and David Harris (Music Composition Fellow ’15, ’05) will have a live, free, streaming concert as part of the Boiler House Jazz series hosted by the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation (5/7, 7:30 PM ET).
Jonathan Bailey Holland (Music Composition Fellow ’19) and David William Sanford (Music Composition Fellow ’19) each composed portions of the score for Death by Life, a new opera exploring systemic racism and mass incarceration, premiering this month with White Snake Projects.
Sue Murad (Choreography Fellow ’08) and Jenna Pollack (Choreography Finalist ’20) joined Frederick Moss to create the short film Castle Island, made in response to the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston’s exhibition i’m yours: Encounter with Art in Our Times and presented at a Virtual First Fridays: Unbound event.

Kati Agócs‘s (Music Composition Fellow ’15) composition Tantric Variations (String Quartet #1) had a livestream performance by Mivos Quartet 5/16 and is still available to stream. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra recently gave the Canadian premiere of her Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra.
P. Carl (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’18) joins Michael Chabon, Chang-rae Lee, and Nell Painter for The Enactment of Identity, an online panel discussion hosted by the MacDowell Colony & The 92nd Street Y (5/6, 7 PM).
Lisa Gruenberg‘s (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’12) memoir My City of Dreams will be part of a virtual event hosted by the bioethics centers of Harvard Medical School and Colorado University (5/11, 5 PM, register).
Regina Hansen (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Finalist ’98) publishes a debut young adult novel, The Coming Storm, from Atheneum Books for Young Readers (Simon and Schuster), in June 2021, with a virtual book launch at Porter Square Books (6/1, 7 PM). See a book trailer.
Janet Loren Hill (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist ’19) has a solo exhibition, The Directed Eye, at the Arno Maris Gallery at Westfield State University.
Elizabeth James-Perry (Traditional Arts Fellow ’14) along with artist Ekua Holmes are creating installations on the grounds outside the MFA Boston as part of the Garden for Boston project. Read about the installations in Greg Cook’s Wonderland.
Melinda Lopez (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19, ’03) co-wrote and performs in Black Beans Project with Joel Perez, directed by Jamie Castañeda, available to stream from Huntington Theatre Company (5/11-5/30).
Stefanie Lubkowski‘s (Music Composition Finalist ’15) composition Right now, in a second will be performed in a free, live-streamed concert by Dinosaur Annex (5/21, 7:30 PM ET). Limited seating is also available at the Waterworks Museum in Chestnut Hill.
Nathalie Miebach (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’17, ’09) launched a new venture, Spiders and Birds, specializing in creating handmade, colorful, woven lamps. The business is opening a showroom in the Sowa District, Boston.
Judith Motzkin (Crafts Fellow ’19) has work in the State of Clay Biennial (5/15-6/13) and the 2021 Cambridge Art Association National Prize Show (6/4-6/25).
Masha Obolensky‘s (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’11) short audio play Speaking Up is currently streaming as part of the Huntington Theatre Company’s Dream Boston series.
Mary O’Malley (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’06) has work in FLORA, a group exhibition at Gallery 263 (5/19-6/19). She also has work in the Salut! 6 Coaster Show at Nucleus Portland (6/13-7/5).
Monica Raymond‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’13) flash fiction Lion in the Living Room, inspired by a photocollage by Fran Forman, was recently published in Oyedrum (online).
Anna VQ Ross (Poetry Fellow 18) received the 2020 Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award for her second book of poetry, Milk Teeth. The award includes $3,000, a book publication (in 2022), and a residency at PLAYA.
James Rutenbeck‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’19, ’11) documentary film A Reckoning in Boston has its New England premiere at the Independent Film Festival of Boston (streaming online, 5/7-5/9). Read about it in WBUR’s The ARTery.
Karl Stevens (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’16) appeared on the GBH program Open Studio with Jared Bowen to discuss his new book Penny: A Graphic Memoir.
