Fellows Notes is a monthly listing of the latest news from awardees in our Artist Fellowships Program.
William Ciccariello (Painting Fellow ’06), Vico Fabbris (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’06), Julie Levesque (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’05), Anne Lilly (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’19), and Joshua Meyer (Painting Fellow ’10) are all featured in Rice Polak Gallery 2020 catalog, as well as in this video tour of their group show. Ellen Lebow, Julie Levesque, and Anne Lilly along with Connie Saems are featured in another recent video by the gallery.
Niho Kozuru (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’09), Catherine McCarthy (Painting Fellow ’04), and Janet Rickus (Painting Fellow ’06) are featured in Regrouping, the “reopening” exhibition at Clark Gallery in Lincoln.

Erica Charis-Molling (Poetry Fellow ’20) published an essay, On Endurance, in VIDA Review.
Jodi Colella (Sculpture/Installations/New Genres Fellow ’19) has a solo exhibition, Faculty of Utterance, at Boston Sculptors Gallery (7/22-9/20).
Sally Curcio (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist ’17) is the curator of SOS (Summer On-screen Series) at the UMass Amherst Hampden Gallery.
Ken Field (Music Composition Finalist ’17) will perform with bassist Blake Newman in the outdoor courtyard of the Boston Public Library for their annual summer concert series (8/28, 12:30-1:30 PM). There will be no live audience – the concert will livestream to YouTube. Field & Newman will draw from the repertoires of Field’s Revolutionary Snake Ensemble & the Ken Field Nonstandards, in addition to improvisations utilizing looping electronics.
Brece Honeycutt (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’18) was among the artists selected for a pilot program called Artists at Work. The pilot program pairs artists with cultural institutions and community organizations. Brece will be working with Hancock Shaker Village and Camphill Village.
Sarah Stewart Johnson (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’14) publishes her nonfiction book The Sirens of Mars this month. Listen to an audio excerpt.
Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’19) has work in three group exhibitions: the in-person Fantastic Film at LightBox Gallery in Astoria, OR (7/11-8/4); the Griffin Museum of Photography’s Online Exhibition 26th Juried Show (7/18-8/30); and the online exhibition Photography Without A Lens at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts in Providence.
John J. King‘s play 7 Minutes is an O’Neill Center 2020 National Play Conference Finalist.
Louise Laplante (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’04) is exhibiting in Natural Worlds at Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY (thru 7/26).
Steve Locke (Photography Finalist ’17, Painting Finalist ’14) has a solo exhibition of painting, Homage to The Auction Block, at LaMontagne Gallery in Boston (7/15-8/14).
Melinda Lopez‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19, ’03) short audio play By the Rude Bridge is currently streaming as part of the Huntington Theatre Company’s Dream Boston series.
Stefanie Lubkowski (Music Composition Finalist ’15) has a new composition, Hearings that will have its world premiere at a Peridot Duo livestream concern (7/29, 2 PM, RSVP required). Proceeds from the concert will benefit Women of Color in the Arts.
Keith Maddy (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’16) has a solo, virtual exhibition, Inner Flight, at Howard Yezerski Gallery.
Matthew Mazzotta‘s (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’19, ’11) Neighbors, a community public art project in Terre Haute, IN, received a $15,000 Rbhu Gives Back award.
Anne Neely (Painting Finalist ’10) is exhibiting in the group exhibition Skirting the Line at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Portland (thru 9/20). She’ll participate in a Zoom discussion, Discussing the Line: Artists on the Border of Abstraction (7/21, 5:30-6:30 PM), free but registration required.
Mary O’Malley (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’06) has work in the group exhibition Bird, Nest, Nature at Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA (7/12 –10/18). Recently, 13Forest created a video studio visit with the artist.
Jenna Pollack (Choreography Finalist ’20) has received a 2020-2021 Boston Dancemakers Residency, a partnership between Boston Dance Alliance and the Boston Center for the Arts.
Lucia Small‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’05) three full-length documentary films, My Father, the Genius (2002), The Axe in the Attic (2007), and One Cut, One Life (2014), are screening free (thru 7/16) as part of The DocYard’s Lucia Small Retrospective. There is a live chat with Lucia Small during a virtual screening of One Cut, One Life (7/7, 7 PM ET), and a 90-minute Q&A and conversation on these groundbreaking first-person documentaries (7/8, 3 PM ET).
Patricia Stacey (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Finalist ’12) updated her book The Boy Who Loved Windows for new audiobook edition.
Helena Wurzel‘s (Painting Finalist ’16, ’10) paintings were featured in an email update from BK Projects.
