Congratulations to Vanessa Anspaugh (Choreography Finalist ’12), Barbie Diewald (Choreography Fellow ’18), and Carolyn Shadid Lewis (Film & Video Fellow ’11), who are among the grantees of New Work New England, a grant to support the development of new work, from New England Foundation for the Arts.
Edie Bresler (Photography Fellow 19) and Keiko Hiromi (Photography Finalist ’13) are among the artists exhibiting in Moved To Act! Demonstrations, Marches, Political Actions, a traveling exhibition co-curated by Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’17), currently on view at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center (thru 3/1). Gary Duehr (Photography Fellow ’03, Poetry Finalist ’98), Eben Haines (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’18), Naoe Suzuki (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’06) are among the artists exhibiting in Transition of Power: 2021 at 13Forest in Arlington (thru 2/10).

Sally Bellerose (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction ’04) reads from her new novel Fishwives at a virtual event hosted by Broadside Bookshop in Northampton (2/11, 7 PM).
Denise Bergman (Poetry Finalist ’14) reads from her new poetry book, The Shape of the Keyhole, at the Blacksmith House Poetry Series (2/22, 7:15 PM). Her co-reader is Katherine Hollander, whose debut poetry collection is My German Dictionary.
Aya Yamasaki Brown and Jason Brown (aka Opertura) (Film & Video Fellows ’19) have animated short films in the KidsBestFest (Virtual Edition) from the Northampton Arts Council (screening 2/17).
Erica Daborn (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’16) has exhibited murals from her Dialogues With Mother Earth project at the International Museum of Art and Science in McAllen, Texas, Museo Ciudad Querétaro in Guanajuato, Mexico, and Museo Iconográfico as part of the Festival Cervantino del Quijote. She is currently preparing a book to accompany the project.
Cassandra de Alba (Poetry Finalist ’20) co-wrote the new poetry chapbook Cryptids with Aly Pierce, published by Ginger Bug Press.
Congratulations to Oliver de la Paz (Poetry Fellow ’20) who received a 2021 Literature Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Rebecca Doughty (Painting Finalist ’10) is exhibiting in The Misfits at PULP in Holyoke. Sign up for an opening day viewing slot 2/20, 11 AM-5 PM.
Stephen Earp (Traditional Arts Finalist ’16) is the curator of American Clay: Modern Potters, Traditional Pots at Fuller Craft Museum (thru 11/7).
Georgie Friedman (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’13) has a site-specific, sculptural video installation, Hurricane Lost, at Emerson Contemporary (thru 4/4). There will be virtual talks with the artist 2/10, 6:30 PM and 3/1, 7:30 PM.
Warner Friedman (Painting Fellow ’20, ’12) 2020 is exhibiting paintings at Bernay Fine Art Gallery in Great Barrington.
Jane Gillooly‘s (Film & Video Fellow ’19, ’13, ’07, ’96) film Where the Pavement Ends, a documentary exploring the history and racial divide of the area surrounding Ferguson, MO, is a featured film at the Yerba Center for the Arts & the San Francisco Urban Film Festival (2/14-2/21). The closing night screening is followed by Panel Discussion: YouTube Livestream (2/21, 4:30 PM PT/7:30 ET.) PBS/World Channel is re-broadcasting Where the Pavement Ends on America ReFramed (2/23, 8 PM ET).
Sean Greene (Painting Fellow ’14) is exhibiting with potter Steve Theberge in exhibition Next at PULP in Holyoke (thru 2/14). He had work in group exhibitions at Hey Check This Out Gallery in NYC and LABspace in Hillsdale, NY. The artist recently exhibited at Central Connecticut State University – watch a gallery talk.
Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’17), along with curating Moved to Act! (see above), has work in the Yellow Rose Project exhibition at the University of Arkansas sUgAR Gallery (2/15-3/5).
Colleen Kiely (Painting Fellow ’98) has a solo exhibition, This Ain’t No Party, This Ain’t No Disco, at Steven Zevitas Gallery (2/5-3/25). Her portfolio of Gone to Feed the Roses drawings will be included in the six-artist exhibition Keep the Light at the Brattleboro Museum of Art (3/17-6/13).
Vasilis Kostas (Traditional Arts Fellow ’20) received a Forty Under 40 award from the Greek America Foundation.
Greg Lam‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19) play Last Ship to Proxima Centauri will be produced by Kitchen Dog Theater in Dallas, TX in February and March. It will be performed on stage without an audience but filmed and available for streaming.
Danielle Legros Georges‘s (Poetry Fellow ’14) book of translations, Island Heart: The Poems of Ida Faubert, was just published by Subpress Collective (2021). Also, she was recently named Translation Editor of Consequence, an international literary journal focused on the experiences of conflict and geopolitical violence.
Ilana Manolson‘s (Painting Fellow ’18, ’08) new painting series What We Choose is exhibiting on Artsy with Jason McCoy Gallery. She discusses the work at a virtual talk (2/7, 3 PM) – info here.
John Minigan (Dramatic Writing ’19) has plays being recently, currently, or soon-to-be performed by Barrington Stage Co (MA), Urban Stages (NYC), Left Edge Theatre (CA), and Theatre for your Ears podcast.
James Rutenbeck (Film & Video Finalist ’19, ’11) documentary film A Reckoning in Boston (formerly called Invisible) is an Official Selection at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (2/19-2/28).
Nora Valdez (Crafts Fellow ’17) exhibits with Alexandra Rozenman in the show Unfolding Roads at Fountain Street Gallery (thru 2/28, virtual reception 2/21, 3 PM).
Cary Wolinsky (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’09), along with Barbara Wolinsky, is exhibiting in More Than Portraits at the Pucker Gallery (thru 2/28). Take a virtual tour.
