Fellows Notes is a monthly listing of the latest news from awardees in our Artist Fellowships Program.
Amy Borezo (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’12) and Linda Price-Sneddon (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’01) are among the artists exhibiting in FeministFuturist at the Boston Center for the Arts Mills Gallery (2/8-4/5, opening reception 2/8, 6-9 PM).
Mark Del Guidice (Crafts Fellow ’19) and James Dye (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’18) are among the artists with work in Totems, the International Juried Show at Beacon Gallery in Boston (2/7-3/15, opening reception 2/7, 6-8:30 PM).
Caleb Neelon (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’07) and Helena Wurzel (Painting Finalist ’16, ’10) are among the artists in the group exhibition Peace, Love and Understanding, curated by Beth Kantrowitz, at The Beehive (opening reception 2/11, 6-8 PM).

Matt Brackett (Painting Fellow ’03) has a solo exhibition, Bitter Chill, at the Southern New Hampshire University McIninch Art Gallery (thru 2/29).
Juan Jose Barboza-Gubo and Andrew Mroczek (Photography Fellows ’19) present their recently released book Fatherland: Culture, Violence, and the Peruvian Landscape at the Lesley University University Hall lower level screening room (2/4, 6:30-8:30 PM).
Pelle Cass (Photography Finalist ’15) recently had a solo exhibition at Camerawork Gallery in Portland, OR. In 2019, he had group exhibitions in Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Breda (The Netherlands). He’s a contributor to The Beautiful Sparkle: Optical Illusions in Art by Florian Heine (forthcoming) and was featured in the publications FOAM, Victory Journal, and Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. A feature about the artist on the It’s Nice That was among the most viewed articles on that site in 2019.
Erica Daborn (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’16) was awarded a Winter/Spring 2020 Fellowship for a residency at the MacDowell Colony.
Sean Dorgan‘s (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’13) play Hospitality will be given a staged reading by Hub Theatre Company at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre (2/18, 7:30 PM).
Ken Field‘s (Music Composition Finalist ’17) band Revolutionary Snake Ensemble performs its annual Mardi Gras Party at the Regattabar in Cambridge (2/21, 7:30 PM).
Dana Filibert (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’15) is among the artists in the group exhibition RED at Novado Gallery in Jersey City, NJ (2/14-3/21, opening reception 2/14, 6:30 PM).
Ralf Gawlick‘s (Music Composition Fellow ’17, ’09) string quartet was selected as a Best of the Best: Top Albums of the Year by Global Music Awards. This April, his Stalingrad work Herzliche Grüße Bruno ~ Briefe aus Stalingrad will receive its German/European premiere in Nuremberg, Germany.
Lisa Gruenberg (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’12) reads from her memoir My City of Dreams at Brandeis University (2/26). Upcoming readings include the Boston Public Library. Read a great review of the memoir in Michigan Quarterly Review.
Jessica Hankey‘s (Film & Video Fellow ’19) film Le Survivant and collaborative art with Erin Johnson is on view in Both Players Move at Space 538 in Portland ME (thru 2/28).
Andrea Hairston‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’03, Finalist ’19) novel Master of Poisons, is coming out in Fall 2020. She wrote a short story version of I’ma Be My Own Sun, the play-in-progress she submitted when she received her 2019 Mass Cultural Council Finalist award, will be published in Trouble the Waters, an anthology of speculative short stories, later in 2020.
Congratulations to Brece Honeycutt (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’18), who has been awarded a William Randolph Hearst Foundation Fellowship for Creative and Performing Artists and Writers at the American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, MA.
Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’17) has photographic work from her Landscapes and Prayers portfolio in the SE Center Open exhibit at the SE Center for Photography in Greenville, SC (opening 2/7). She also has work in The Heart Goes Nine at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts (2/20-3/13, opening reception 2/20, 5-9 PM). She won an Honorable Mention in this year’s Krappy Kamera exhibit at Soho Photo Gallery in NYC (2/17-3/7). She is a semifinalist Soho Photo Gallery’s International Portfolio Competition.
Zehra Khan has a solo exhibition, Fakeries, at Tiger Strikes Asteroid Chicago (2/1-3/14, reception 2/29, 12-4 PM), where she is the first Artist-in-Residence.
Louise Laplante (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’04) has a solo exhibition, Creatures Big and Small, at GR Gallery, Stamford, CT (thru 3/2020).
Julie Mallozzi (Film & Video Finalist ’15, ’07) speaks at the Newport Art Museum in their Winter Speaker Series (2/1, 2 PM).
Tara Lynn Masih‘s (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Finalist ’96) novel My Real Name Is Hanna was named as a finalist for the 2019 National Jewish Book Awards.
Rania Matar (Photography Fellow ’11, ’07) has a solo exhibition, An Image and Her Woman, at American University of Beirut Art Gallery (thru 2/15). She also has work in the group exhibitions Just Kids at Minneapolis Institute of Art (thru 6/14; she will give the museum’s Annual Newman Lecture 4/30); Our Earthly Figures at Foley Gallery in New York City (2/12-3/15); and Contemporary Muslim Fashions at the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York (2/28-8/23). She recently gave an artist talk, From Personal to Universal, at Eskenazi Museum of Art.
Adam Mazo‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’17) film with Ben Pender-Cudlip, Dear Georgina, has its northwestern U.S. premiere at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, Montana (2/16). The film premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in California in January.
Caitlin McCarthy‘s (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’11) screenplay A Native Land has won Best Feature Screenplay at the 2020 Lindsey Film Festival in Florence, AL.
John Minigan (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19) has had short plays presented by Heralds of Hope Theatre in Silver Spring, MD; culture*park’s annual new play marathon in New Bedford, MA; and Core Artist Ensemble in NYC. He has upcoming productions at Ravel Festival in Healdsburg, CA, and an NPR recording of his play Velas Votivas for a feature on Code Red Playwrights, a group of playwrights writing in response to gun violence. His short play Closing Doors, which won the Honegger Prize at the Firehouse Center for the Arts New Play Festival in Newburyport, has recent or upcoming productions at The Denizens in NYC, Little Fish Theatre’s Pick of the Vine Festival in San Pedro, CA, Unidentified Stages in Orange, New Jersey, as well as Barrington Stage Company, Silverthorne Theatre, and Theatre One, all in Massachusetts.
Monica Raymond‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’13) play A to Z recently had a staged reading, directed by Sasha Bratt, at Playhouse on Park in Hartford, CT.
Vaughan Sills (Photography Fellow ’09) has a solo photography exhibition, Inside Outside, at Kingston Gallery in Boston (2/5-3/1).
David Valdes‘ (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’19, ’03) play The Last Catastrophist is presented by Fresh Ink Theatre at the Plaza Blackbox at the Boston Center for the Arts (thru 2/8).
Michael Zelehoski (Painting Fellow ’10) has a solo exhibition, All of This and Nothing, at Tang Contemporary in Beijing (thru 2/29). He is exhibiting with Pavel Zoubok Fine Art in The Winter Show at Park Avenue Armory in NYC (thru 2/2).
