Fellows Notes is a monthly listing of the latest news from awardees in our Artist Fellowships Program.
Sonia Almeida (Painting Fellow ’14), Laura Blacklow (Photography Fellow ’78), Amy Borezo (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’12) are all exhibiting in the group show Bookworks at Tufts University Art Gallery (8/22-12/15, opening reception 9/5, 6-8 PM).
Jodi Colella (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’19) and Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’17) are exhibiting in Dressed at Danforth Art (8/31-12/30).
Gary Duehr (Photography Fellow ’03) and Jeannie Simms (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist ’05) are exhibiting in the group show The Waste Land on Earth? in the Crossings Gallery at the Harvard Ed Portal (thru 8/21, opening reception 8/8, 5-8 PM).
Greg Lam (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19) and Thato Mwosa (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’19) are both participating in the South Shore Playwright Showcase at the Milton Public Library (8/20, 7 PM).

Kati Agócs (Music Composition Fellow ’15) composition Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra will be performed at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado this month. The performance features violin virtuoso Jennifer Koh.
Elizabeth Alexander (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’11) exhibits with artist Tatiana Flis in Remainder Remains at Fountain Street Gallery (8/28-9/29, opening reception 9/6, 5-8 PM; Tea and Talk 9/7, 3-4 PM). The artist was recently announced as a finalist for the 2019 Burke Prize from the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City. She’ll exhibit with the other finalists starting in October.
Congratulations to John Cameron (Crafts Fellow ’11) who received a 2019 Artist Award from the Society of Arts + Crafts. An exhibition featuring the awardees is on display (thru 9/1, closing reception 8/22, 6-9 PM).
Timothy Coleman (Crafts Fellow ’11) has a solo show of furniture at the Gallery at Somes Sound on Mt. Desert Island, Maine (thru 8/31).
Tsar Fedorsky (Photography Fellow ’15) is among the photographers in the Hariban Award 2019 Shortlist.
Christy Georg (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist ’11) has a solo exhibition, Translation Objects for Situations and Sites, at Vermont Carving Studio and Sculpture Center (8/2-8/30, opening reception 5-8 PM). The artist will be teaching at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston at Tufts University this academic year.
Basia Goszczynska (Film & Video Fellow ’13) has a solo exhibition, Alien Nation, at One Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn (8/23-9/7).
Margo Guernsey‘s (Film & Video Fellow ’19) film Councilwoman has its Los Angeles premiere at the LA Latino International Film Festival (8/4, 4:15 PM).
Jan Johnson (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’10) is exhibiting in the group show Fabrication of Imagination at the Arts League of Lowell (thru 9/15).
Stefanie Lubkowski‘s (Music Composition Finalist ’15) composition Time is an Ocean will be performed by NakedEye Ensemble at the Pikes Falls Chamber Music Festival in Jamaica, Vermont (8/6, 7 PM). NakedEye commissioned the work.
Adam Mazo‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’17) film with Ben Pender-Cudlip, Dawnland, was nominated for two Emmy Awards. The film screens this month at Museum of Fine Arts Boston (8/1, 5:30 PM).
Gary Metras (Poetry Fellow ’84) will be reading from his newest book of poetry, Captive in the Here (Cervena Barva Press, 2018), at Arts in the Armory in Somerville (8/10, 2 PM).
John Minigan‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19) short play Amphitrite and Poseidon: A Memory of Water, created in collaboration with mask-maker Eric Bornstein, was commissioned by and performed at the Plumbing Museum in July. Upcoming or recent performances of his plays include Breaking the Shakespeare Code and Noir Hamlet (Advice to the Players in Sandwich, NH); Noir Hamlet (Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland); A Monogamy of Swans (Arlington Friends of the Drama/ArlingTEN Festival and Cold Comfort Theater/Belfast Pride); Concordance (The Depot for New Play Readings in Connecticut). Finally, he was recently named Dramatists Guild Ambassador for Eastern New England.
January Gill O’Neil (Poetry Finalist ’18) was interviewed recently on New England Public Radio. She was named University of Mississippi’s John and Renée Grisham Writer in Residence for the 2019-20 academic year.
Congratulations to Daniela Rivera (Painting Fellow ’12), who received the 2019 Rappaport Prize from the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. The $35,000 prize is unrestricted. The artist will deliver the Rappaport Prize Lecture (10/23, 6:30 PM).
Jo Ann Rothschild (Painting Fellow ’98) has work in the group exhibition Patterns of Influence at The Painting Center in New York (thru 8/10, panel discussion 8/10, 4-6 PM). In September, the artist will give a talk and painting demonstration at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in conjunction with the Women Take the Floor exhibition (9/15, 12-3 PM).
Michelle Samour (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’14, Crafts Fellow ’03) has work in Pulparazzi: Painting with Pulp at the Jamestown Art Center in Rhode Island (thru 8/17).
Karen Skolfield‘s (Poetry Fellow ’14) poetry collection Battle Dress, winner of the Barnard Women Poets Prize, is published this month by W.W. Norton.
Ann Strassman (Painting Finalist ’18) has work in the Georges Bergès Gallery Summer Group Show in New York City.
