Boston’s Chinatown Artist Residency Pao Arts Center’s 2022 Residence Lab is accepting applications. The Residence Lab is a partnership between BCNC’s Pao Arts Center and Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) to empower and train local artists and residents to collectively preserve the Chinatown community through creative and artistic space activation. Through site-specific installations, Residence Lab will activate underutilized public/third spaces in Chinatown, transforming these sites into tools for public stories that uplift the narratives, culture, and character of Boston’s Chinatown. Helen Bumpus Gallery Call for Proposals The 50+ year old Helen Bumpus Gallery located within Duxbury Free Library seeks applications from regional artists interested in exhibiting two-dimensional artwork in their esteemed venue. The Gallery’s Board of Directors reviews submissions on a rolling basis throughout the year. Upon acceptance, dates for a two-month long exhibition will be finalized with the artist. Call to 3D Artists The Cape Cod Museum of Art and the New England Sculptors Association invite all 3D artists to submit to our inaugural Outdoor & Indoor Juried Sculpture Exhibition on the 22-acre campus of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts where CCMoA is located. The 2022 theme is open and will be juried by representatives from the Cape Cod Center for the Arts and a guest juror (to be determined). Call for Mural Bentley University’s Marketing and Communications department is seeking competitive responses to this Request for Proposal for an on-campus indoor space mural. The mural is for the interior lobby of the university police station on campus. The goal of the mural is to create a welcoming environment that is aligned with Bentley University’s police department commitment to justice and equity for all. Moreover, they want all members of the Bentley community to see the police station as a safe and inclusive place. The allocated budget for this mural is $3,000, inclusive of design, implementation and travel expenses. We will also compensate the selected artist up to $100 for any additional sketches needed as part of the university approval process. Learn more.

Residencies are from 1 to 3 months, featuring artists working in a diverse range of materials and techniques. Traditional Arts Apprenticeships Apprenticeships are a time-honored method by which an individual learns skills, techniques, and artistry under the guidance of a recognized mentor. Since its founding in 2001, Mass Cultural Council’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program, now accepting applications, has funded 88 apprenticeships in a vast array of traditions, both old and new to Massachusetts. Recent Mass Cultural Council-funded apprenticeships include mentorships in traditional wampum art, Indian tabla, Ottoman/Turkish makam, Cambodian traditional ornamentation, wooden boatbuilding and restoration, and Music of Epirus on violin.
