Call for Artists The Esplanade Association has announced a new Public Art Opportunity to bring four pieces of art to the Esplanade in 2022! In partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), and Volunteers Incorporating Black Excellence, Inc. (VIBE) seeks up to four (4) qualified artists to design and install murals on electrical boxes along the Esplanade in May 2022. To be considered for the project, artists must submit a Statement of Interest form by January 21, 2022. Selected artists will receive a stipend for their contribution to the Esplanade. Learn more.

Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowships Artist Fellowships applications are now available. The Fellowships are direct grants to artists to recognize exceptional creative work. We are currently accepting applications in the following categories: Fiction/Creative Nonfiction, Painting, and Drawing & Printmaking. Frankenthaler Climate Awards The Frankenthaler Climate Awards are open. Presented by the Asia Society and the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, these awards aim to foster climate change awareness through the imagination and insights of an upcoming generation of visual artists. Visual artists and collectives are invited to submit video artworks (e.g. digital video art, animation, film) or videos about visual artworks (e.g. documentation of 2D or 3D artworks, such as sculptures, photos, paintings, installation, or performance works) that tackle the climate change emergency. New England Nonfiction Filmmakers LEF New England is now accepting submissions for Moving Image Fund grants from New England-based filmmakers making feature-length (40+ minute) non-fiction film projects. This program cycle accepts applications for Production grants of $15,000; and Post-production grants of $25,000 (Post-production applications are only open to projects that have received prior LEF funding). Visual Arts Fellowships The Fine Arts Work Center located in Provincetown, MA, offers a 7-month Fellowship to 10 emerging visual artists each year from October 1 through April 30. Visual Arts Fellows are provided with a private furnished apartment and a separate work studio of approximately 400 sq ft. Fellows are awarded $1000 monthly stipend plus $1000 exit stipend to support relocation at the end of the Fellowship. Learn more

Call for Artists The New Art Center in Newton invites artists to submit their work in all mediums for an upcoming exhibition, Art as Salve, curated by Ashleigh Coren. This exhibition in our BIPOC curatorial series will examine the concept of Healing Justice, which asks us to identify and uplift practitioners carrying out this work through honoring and amplifying their rituals and strategies for collective care and building resilience. To move beyond reflection and into justice and reconciliation, Art as Salve asks the question – how might art function as a holistic intervention for survivors of generational trauma and violence?
