Fiction The James Jones Literary Society is offering a first novel fellowship. The winner will receive $10,000 for a novel-in-progress by a U.S. writer who has not published a novel. A selection from the winning work will be published in Provincetown Arts. Runners-up will each receive $1,000. Submit the first 50 pages of a novel-in-progress and a two-page outline. Learn more.

Call for Artists Maud Morgan Arts and Chandler Gallery invite artists to submit work for an exhibit at the Freepoint Hotel in Cambridge (April 5 – June 30, 2018). Freepoint is boutique hotel located a short walk from the Alewife train station. Any 2D work including works on paper, prints, drawings, paintings, collage, photographs is eligible. Call to Boston-based Painters, Photographers The next BNN TV Neighborhood Art Gallery exhibit – “Boston Strong” is accepting entries from Boston based painters and photographers. Artists are invited to send an image of something Boston (people, places or things) to be considered for the April/May exhibit opportunity. No Fee. Nothing bigger than 30 x 30. African American Playwrights The Fade to Black Festival in Houston, TX is accepting entries for new works of African American Playwrights. Fade To Black is Houston’s first national play festival to showcase the new works of African American playwrights. Each year they select the plays of ten finalists from around the U.S. and produced them before a live audience. On the last day of the festival, a grand prize winning playwright (chosen by audience votes) will be announced. Learn more.

Temporary Public Art The Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) is seeking proposals for a temporary work of public art for installation in Boston’s Fort Point Channel during the summer of 2018. The work of public art will serve to engage the public and highlight the Fort Point Channel, the Fort Point neighborhood and our creative community. One award of $9,500 will be made for a prominent, temporary work of public art sited in, or making significant use of the Fort Point Channel between the Summer and Congress Street bridges.
