AVAILABLE: Fort Point Cabinetmakers..One space (of 6 total) in a 4500 sq ft cooperative furniture studio/workshop with other great makers, in a vibrant, collaborative, encouraging environment. You have seen our work in museums, at the North Bennet Street School (we’ve graduated from and taught there over the years), in Fine Woodworking, and in books and articles on furniture making and contemporary furniture. We are looking for the right person to join us in our space at the Innovation and Design Building in South Boston.
Each bench space has 12 foot ceilings, compressed air, is roughly 10x20, has good electrical, and the entire area has air conditioning, is well lit and heated with freight elevators and loading dock. Since Covid, we have checked our space, monitor CO2 levels and have more than 7 air changes per hour. We pride ourselves on being a healthy workspace.
We have a professional finishing room with HVLP spray systems, sheet goods storage, along with a small office, reference library (over 500 volumes) and storage area in addition to our machine room. All these are shared.
24/7 access, on the Silver Line-free shuttles to both North and South Stations. Monthly fee includes bench space, utilities and maintenance. Parking is available for an extra fee. Everyone is expected to lend a hand with the standard shop chores.
The shop has enough equipment to handle almost any need. Joiners, planers, laser cutter, saws, etc.
We share our knowledge and our expertise.
