Call to Artists Applications are now being accepted for the Arts at Haborfest at Christopher Columbus Park in Boston (Saturday July 2nd, 11 am to 5 pm). The event is for local artists to exhibit and sell their artwork underneath the trellis in the park, and for Plein Air painters to paint during the event and have a Wet Paint Sale at the end of the day. Space is limited to 20 artists exhibiting under the trellis plus 20 Plein Air Painters painting through the park. Preference will be given to artists who have some nautical themed work. They will supply a tent structure, booth sitters to watch your equipment while you park and to give restroom breaks. Plein Air Painters can choose their location in the vicinity of Christopher Columbus Park– from the Harbor to Faneuil Hall, North End to Aquarium. Booth Fee: $150 to exhibit and sell your artwork underneath the trellis, $50 for Plein Air Painters. All proceeds for the wet paint sales will remain the artist’s. Painters must bring their own easels, chairs, whatever you need. If Plein Air Painters wish to bring & sell additional artwork beyond the Wet Paint painting, they may opt to pay the $150 booth fee the others are paying rather than the $50 entrance fee. To apply email info@beaconhillartwalk.org the following: your name, address, medium, a paragraph about yourself and/or your artwork, three jps of the work you plan to bring to the event. Accepted artists will be sent an invoice from Square to pay their booth fee. At that point you may opt to mail a check if you prefer; mailing address will be supplied at that time.
Deadline: Juried on a rolling basis as the applications are received.
Short Stories Entries are now being accepted for the Nelligan prize of $2,000 and publication in Colorado Review for a short story. Gish Jen will judge. There are no theme restrictions, but stories must be at least 10 pages (or 2500 words) but no more than 50 pages (12,500 words). All manuscripts must be typed and double-spaced. Learn more.

Artist Residency Gallery 263 in Cambridge is is offering their 700-square foot space to artists of all media and experience levels for 7 weeks in the Summer of 2016. Call to Artists Entries are now being accepted by 6 Bridges Gallery, Maynard, MA for a juried exhibit titled: Bridges, juried by Shana Dumont Garr, a Boston-based arts writer, curator, and educator. Artists may submit work that reflects the theme of bridges, taken in the broadest sense. Bridges connote links, connections, and bonds—both physical and emotional—between people and things.
