Call for LGBTQIA2+ Centered Plays The Plain Site Theatre Festival returns for a third season and is currently seeking new LGBTQIA2+ centered plays to develop and produce. Selected playwrights will receive professional dramaturgy for their play, a workshop reading at the 2022 Festival and full production at the 2023 Festival. Artists eligible to submit must be currently attending a secondary or post-secondary institution and identify as LGBTQIA2+. Using ‘coming out’ as a prompt, writers are encouraged to explore what coming out means to them. Learn more.

Women Filmmakers The Film Girl Film Festival is the only festival in Wisconsin dedicated to showcasing women in film, both in front and behind the camera. Formerly the Milwaukee Women’s Film Festival, the festival is now in its fourth year. It partners with other organizations, such as Milwaukee Film and No Studios, to highlight women in film, both in Wisconsin and elsewhere. Future Art Award MOZAIK Philanthropy’s Future Art Awards will present U.S. artists in all disciplines with a $5,000 cash prize and a showcase in a curated virtual exhibition. Media Makers Fellowship The Sundance Institute is piloting direct individual support through the Humanities Sustainability Fellowship, with funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the American Rescue Plan. The Fellowship will be open to individuals at all phases of their careers producing and/or directing humanities-focused feature-length documentary films, nonfiction audio/podcast projects, and nonfiction emerging media. Selected media makers will receive monthly stipends of $5,000 per month over the course of 12 months. Grantees will be paired with paid humanities advisors to support them throughout the year. Documentary Development Fellowship Supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the ITVS Humanities Documentary Development Fellowship will help pandemic-affected independent documentary filmmakers develop high-potential projects that increase the diversity, urgency, and relevance of the nation’s humanities centered documentary pipeline. Support will be awarded in the form of 12 month stipends to a diverse cohort of independent documentary filmmakers at all stages of their careers, as well as advisors working in the humanities who will provide input and counsel. Call for Videos Presented by Guerilla Opera, the Guerilla Underground is a virtual performance series that features new music and opera theater that explores what is “operatic” and can include of encore broadcasts from live performances, new works interpreted through the mediums of film, video and animation, invigorating musical concerts from the Guerilla All-Stars, previews of works in development for both stage and screen, and guest artists selected from an online competition. Artist Residencies and Solo Exhibitions The Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh has issued an International Open Call for artist residencies and solo exhibitions. During their residency, artists are free to explore wherever their process leads them. The Mattress Factory will support each artist’s process from development through production and installation to exhibition. Call for Drawing The University of North Carolina Asheville (UNC Asheville) invites artists to submit entries to the 13th Annual Juried International Exhibition of contemporary drawing. In efforts to support the breadth in contemporary drawing, media is open to any traditional or experimental drawing media welcoming both two or three-dimensional works, video and/or installation. Accepted work will be exhibited in UNC Asheville’s newly renovated and expanded S. Tucker Cooke Gallery from January 14, 2022 through February 11, 2022. $2000 in awards will be designated by the Juror. Additionally, a purchase prize award will also be available for the permanent collection of the UNC Asheville Department of Art and Art History. A color catalogue will accompany the exhibition.
