Massachusetts Cultural Council: 40 Years of Massachusetts Artist Fellowships
Call to Composers: Past MCC Music Composition Fellows
Issue Date: December 22, 2014
Reply By: January 12, 2015
Overview of the Project
The first Artist Fellowships funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts were awarded in 1975, making 2015 the 40th anniversary of the fellowships. The Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) is celebrating this milestone by creating a series of short (3-5 minute) videos featuring interviews with select awardees from those 40 years.
MCC wants to integrate work by past MCC Music Composition Fellows into those short videos and would like to hear from past Fellows interested in sharing excerpts of their work in the 40 Years of Massachusetts Artist Fellowships project.
Request for Statements of Interest
All composers interested in working with the MCC on this project should respond by email to dan.blask@art.state.ma.us, by 5 PM on January 12, 2015.
Please send:
1) A brief statement of interest. Please identify the composition (or compositions) you would like MCC to consider excerpting.
2) A link to online sample(s) of your work. If no work is currently online, the Artist Department will use samples of your work from our files to determine compatibility with the project.
3) A current resume/bio, either included as attachment or linked to via URL
Review and Selection: MCC’s Artist Department will review statements of interest and composers’ work to select compositions to include in this project. The Artist Department reserves the right to consult outside expertise as needed in the selection process. MCC will offer a $300 honorarium for use of each selected composition. Please note that the composer will be credited and would retain all rights to the work.
