Webinars with Arts Administrators Arts Administration Association New England is holding a series of “Sip and Chat” webinars with arts administrators from the region. The next discussion on June 4, 2020, 4 PM features A. J Pietrantone (Deputy Director, Jacob’s Pillow), Cherie Mittenthal (Artistic Executive Director, Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill), and Mary Jo Murphy (Executive Director, Snow Farm).
Grants for Playwrights Jeremy O. Harris and The Bushwick Starr are partnering to provide financial relief to playwrights during this period of isolation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pet Project Grant will distribute 152 unrestricted cash awards of $500 each directly to US-based playwrights, of any employment and/or immigration status. Awards will be granted by random lottery. Learn more.
Deadline: Application will open on Friday, May 29 2020 at 3pm Eastern time and remain open until the grant receives 1500 submissions.
Black Poets of African Descent The Cave Canem Northwestern University Press Poetry Prize is a second-book award for black poets of African descent, offered every other year. This award celebrates and publishes works of lasting cultural value and literary excellence. Winner receives $1,000, publication by Northwestern University Press, 15 copies of the book and a feature reading in New York City. No Entry Fee. Learn more.

Call for Proposals ArtSpace Maynard invites New England artists in all media (except video) to submit proposals for a 5-6 week solo or group exhibition during the 2020-2021 season in their new West Gallery. Proposals should be for group or solo exhibitions and present a coherent theme. Call for Mural Design Create a Gigantic (Printed) Mural for Harvard Square with a $9,000 commission. Would you like to create a monumental (printed) mural for Cambridge’s Harvard Square? Cambridge Arts invite you to submit images of past work and biographical information to be considered. (No proposals at this time.) Cambridge Arts is looking for an artist (or artist team) to create a design for several hundred feet of vinyl construction scrim that will surround Harvard Square’s Out of Town News Plaza as it is reconstructed over the next couple of years. Photographers This is an open call for submissions to iMotif, an iPhone Photography exhibition presented by Sohn Fine Art. The gallery is located in the Berkshires in Lenox, MA. Any square format photograph taken with an iPhone or iPad can be submitted. With access to a camera on your phone at any moment, and a multitude of creative apps available at your fingertips, the way we instantly capture, process, share and discuss our photographs has revolutionized photography. Given our current social climate this is perhaps one of the most important times collectively for personal expression. iMotif hopes to tap into our humanity, fears, desires, pleasures, and escapes. Work of any style, theme and subject matter, or from any time-period, can be submitted.
