Studio Artist Diversity Initiative The Brush Art Gallery and Studios in Lowell is pleased to announce the Studio Artist Diversity Initiative funded by the Nathanial and Elizabeth P. Stevens Foundation. Studio space will be offered at a discount to an individual who demonstrates an aptitude in his/her art form. In addition, the artist must add cultural diversity to our group of studio artists. Latinx New Play Festival Teatro Vivo is pleased to announce the call for entries for the 2020 Austin Latinx New Play Festival (ALNPF), presented in collaboration with ScriptWorks, to run May 14 to May 16, 2020. Artist of Color Black Public Media has announced an Open Call for feature-length documentaries, shorts (non-fiction or scripted) or limited podcast series for public media distribution. Selected projects will receive production funds to advance their work. There are no limits on the subject area. However, we encourage work that will promote discourse and engage audiences around a critical social issue. In addition, we welcome proposals that target specific viewers such as children and teen audiences. Projects will be funded in amounts ranging from $50,000 – $150,000, depending on the type of project, scope and phase of development/production. Call to Artists ArtSpace Maynard invites artists to apply to a juried show with the theme ENERGY. They are open to all interpretations of this theme. Juror: Jessica Roscio, Curator, Danforth Art Museum at Framingham State University. Artwork in all media except video will be considered. Artwork must have been completed within the past 5 years. Writers Residency The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown welcomes applications from emerging writers for its seven month winter residency program. Now in its 51st year, the Fine Arts Work Center Fellowship Program awards emerging writers with an apartment and a modest monthly stipend from October 1 – May 1. Fellows’ sole responsibility while in residence is to their own creative work, and past Fellows include Ann Patchett, Ada Limón, Yusef Komunyakaa, Louise Glück, Dean Young, Denis Johnson, Michael Cunningham, Jaimy Gordon, and Jhumpa Lahiri. Call to Artists The Brookline Arts Center invites artists of all media residing in the United States to submit work for the exhibition Activation (March 13-April 10, 2020). Artists have explored the nature of vision and movement in art since the early twentieth century. For this exhibition, they are seeking works that move or are activated to perform. A call for Kinetic Art: art of both real and apparent motion. Works should explore the element of time, or reflect on the modern world through technology. Exhibition Proposals The Center for Book Arts is accepting curatorial proposals for their Main Gallery Exhibitions. They are inviting curators and artists to submit exhibition proposals that elaborate, challenge and contribute to the artistic, theoretical, historical, and contemporary aspects of Book Arts. The selected curatorial projects will be given access to the Center’s resources such as the archive and collection artworks, as well as institutional support during the curation process. In addition, the curator will be awarded a $3,000 honorarium; an honoraria budget to divide amongst participating artists and program speakers; and a budget for production, including an exhibition brochure.
