COVID-19 Relief Fund for Individuals The Mass Cultural Council is now accepting applications to the COVID-19 Relief Fund for Individuals. The Fund provides $1,500 grants to people who have lost income derived from their work as individual artists and independent teaching artists/humanists/scientists as a direct result of COVID-19 related cancellations and closures in Massachusetts. For this new round of funding from this program, we are pleased to increase the grant amount from $1,000 to $1,500. We also plan to award more grants – at least 460. Of Note: Revels Musical Connections series explores musical traditions from around the world with intimate virtual experiences, including 45-minute salon-style performances with a variety of musical tradition bearers including Balla Kouyate, Josée Vachon, Karim Nagi, Tom Pixton, and Beth Bahia Cohen.
New England Nonfiction Filmmakers LEF New England is now accepting submissions for $15,000 “Production” and $25,000 “Post-Production” Moving Image Fund grants from New England-based filmmakers making feature-length (40+ minute) non-fiction film projects. Also, Boston-area finalists for LEF Moving Image Fund production and post-production grants will be eligible to apply for the Harvard Film Study Center – LEF Foundation Fellowship, which offers access to the Film Study Center’s pool of production and post-production equipment, the opportunity to participate in the Harvard FSC community through work-in-progress screenings, workshops, and other activities, and a $10,000 grant over the course of the 2021-2022 academic year. LGBTQ Filmmakers Submissions are open for the 37th Boston Wicked Queer 2021. The festival holds Juried awards for Best Feature, Narrative and Best Feature, Documentary. Craft Artists Emergency Funds CERF+ is now accepting applications for the third cycle of their COVID-19 Relief Grant Program. This program will provide one-time $1,000 grants to artists working in craft disciplines who continue to face dire food, housing, and medical insecurities caused by the pandemic. Priority will be given to eligible artists who have traditionally been underserved by the grantmaking community, including people of color and folk and traditional artists. Learn more.

Documentary Filmmakers The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program supports independent nonfiction films with budgets under $1,000,000 USD. For US productions, priority is given to films led by artists from historically underrepresented communities. Projects that focus on historically underrepresented communities must have a key creative from the community or with deep ties to the community in a power-holding position on the team. Applicants may submit at any production phase from development through post-production. Learn more.

Filmmakers Vision Maker Media (VMM) has announced an open call for 2021 public media broadcast proposals. VMM seeks public media film and television projects that are intended and appropriate for Public Media Television Broadcasting, including Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) digital and streaming platforms that represent the cultures, experiences and perspectives of Native Americans and Alaska Natives. Call for Art Work – Outdoor Seating The Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, Massachusetts is looking for artists to design and create outdoor seating for their new outdoor sculpture walk which will open in June of 2021 to celebrate the museum’s Fiftieth Anniversary. These are to be installed on the grounds and will be on long term loan to the ACM. Artists will receive a stipend of $3000.00 to cover costs of design, construction and installation of one bench. Half on acceptance of proposal and the other half upon installation. Seating will remain the property of the artist, and must be complete and installed by June 15, 2021. Award Nominations The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) is accepting nominations for the 2021 Newell Flather Award for Leadership in Public Art through February 26, 2021. The award honors two Massachusetts artists/curators/arts administrators who have demonstrated leadership in contributing to the evolving field of public art and inspiring more just, vibrant, and welcoming public spaces and public life. Each recipient is awarded $5,000 of unrestricted funds in celebration of their leadership and impact in the field. Learn more.

Of Note: NALAC will distribute $2,500 grants to Latinx artists and cultural workers and $5,000 grants to Latinx arts organizations facing critical financial emergencies due to the impact of COVID-19. The call opens March 3, 2021 for artists living in the eastern US and Puerto Rico.
