Artist Residencies The Headlands Center for the Arts in California is offering 4-10-week residencies. Open to artists working in all media (visual, literary, performance, film and video, audio, music, digital media, and interdisciplinary art), with the goal of providing a supportive working environment for experimentation, reflection, and growth. All residencies are fully sponsored, and some stipends of $500 per month are available (artists may apply for stipend when applying for residency; availability of stipends depends on funding and sponsorship secured each year). Offers both live-in and live-out residencies. Live-in artists are provided with a studio, shared housing, and 5 meals a week. Live-out artists are provided with a studio and dinner twice a week. Call for Touchable Sculpture Entries are now being accepted for the juried sculpture exhibition Please Touch! at the Monmouth Museum, featuring wall and free standing sculpture that can be touched by visitors. This exhibition is intended to help visually-impaired people overcome the barrier they experience at most museums by allowing everyone to experience art by touching. Sighted people will also learn to experience art without relying on their eyesight in addition to a visual artistic experience. Learn more.

Furniture Artists Fellowship Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship award of $25,000 given annually to support a talented young-in-career furniture artist in succeeding on their journey as a craftsperson. A successful applicant will be a contemporary and functional artist living and working in the Northeast committed to growing as a maker and establishing a career in furniture. Playwrights The American Playwriting Foundation’s Relentless Award, established in honor of Philip Seymour Hoffman, is a $45,000 annual cash prize in American theater awarded to a playwright in recognition of a new play. They are looking for plays that are challenging, that exhibit fearlessness, that are not mainstream, that exude passion, and that are relentlessly truthful.
