Webinars with Arts Administrators Arts Administration Association New England is holding a series of “Sip and Chat” webinars with arts administrators from the region. The next discussion is July 22, 2021, 4 PM, featuring Adjoa Jones de Almeida, Deputy Director, Learning & Social Impact at Brooklyn Museum; Lisa Dent, Executive Director, Artspace New Haven; and Peter DiMuro, Executive Artistic Director, The Dance Complex.
Solo Artist Exhibition Proposals The 2022 Hadassah-Brandeis Institute (HBI) Artist Program provides an artist the opportunity to have a solo exhibition for 12 weeks at the Kniznick Gallery at Brandeis University. The selected artist is awarded a $2,500 exhibition stipend and a $500 honorarium to produce two programs during the exhibition. In addition to the physical exhibition in the gallery, the HBI Artist exhibition will be viewable online and have an accompanying printed exhibition catalog. Proposals must relate to HBI’s mission of developing fresh ideas about Jews and gender, and they invite submissions that emphasize the experiences of Jews of color. Learn more.

Documentary Filmmakers Funding The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program supports independent nonfiction films with budgets under $1,000,000 USD. Applicants may submit at any production phase from development through post-production. During the winter grant fund cycle, which will be open through July 26, Sundance will provide small stipends to artists who self-identify as deaf, hard of hearing, having a disability, or living with a mental illness to help offset additional costs associated with disability-related barriers. To request support, applicants must reach out to Documentary Fund staff via email at dfp@sundance.org as soon as possible so that they can accommodate the request in advance of the July 26 deadline. They have a limited amount of funds available, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all the funds are exhausted. Learn more.

Curatorial Proposals The Boston Center for the Arts is now accepting proposals for a series of solo artist exhibitions to be presented in the Mills Gallery. Each 1:1 exhibition in the new series will be a collaborative project between one curator and one artist, and will either introduce a new artist or highlight a new aspect of a more experienced artist. BCA will provide a stipend for both the curator and the artist, as well as exhibition expenses as detailed below. The curator will be expected to provide an original text about the artist, and to present one public program (virtual or IRL) during the run of the show. Learn more.

Call to Artists In conjunction with Go Out Doors Neighbors – Metrowest installations, The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, MA is teaming up with Minute Man National Historical Park for a Go Out Doors public art installation at Minute Man National Historic Park. They especially seek site specific designs that combine a sense of place and history to bear on contemporary conditions and personal reflection. Non-literal, non-politicized designs that convey inspiration, whimsy, irony, reflection, connection, curiosity, spirituality, traditionally underrepresented perspectives and/or joy are particularly welcomed. Of Note: Navigating Housing & Studio Spaces for Artists: Know Your Rights and Resources (Part 3), July 21, 2021, 6-7pm. In this interactive workshop, artists will learn about locally relevant housing rights and resources and hear firsthand knowledge about navigating the housing market. This workshop micro-series is led by Ngoc-Tran Vu, a 1.5-generation Vietnamese American interdisciplinary and transnational artist whose socially engaged work draws from her experience as a community organizer, educator, and healer. Latinx Artist Residency Applications are currently being accepted for the CALA Latinx Artist Residency in Phoenix, Arizona. This residency program aims to strengthen the cultural relevancy of US Latinx artists with an honorarium of $4,000, a materials stipend of $4,000, and studio space. Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency The Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York. offers artists the opportunity to teach with local school students intaglio, silkscreen, or hand papermaking.
